1907 Diploma from St. Teresa's Academy
We received an image of a diploma from St. Teresa's Academy, vintage 1907. Here is a letter that accompanied it:
Dear Alumknights:
Here's a jpg version of my Grandmother's 1907 diploma. My cousin sent me a xerox black and white copy. Wish it could be in color for you. The xerox is probably the correct size--- 12.5" x 17.5"
Catherine "Cassie" Brennan, the daughter of Mary Ann Downs and Edward Brennan, had sisters: Mary Ann (Mrs. Geo. Knowles), and Marge Brennan (Mrs. Jess Coman) graduate from St. Theresa's, too. After graduation, her brothers Joe and Andy graduated from Oregon State College and served in WWI. Both were seriously injured, Andy dying later of his war wounds.
Education was very important to the Brennan's. Catherine's oldest daughter went to Harvard for her PhD in chemistry, and her youngest taught college English after earning her masters. All but one grandchild earned college degrees. Her oldest great grandchildren are currently in college, one a Valedictorian this year and now attending USC - the 'ivy' of the West.
Maybe more importantly, the baptismal gown that Catherine and her siblings were baptised in, was used for every Brennan child, grandchild, and great-grandchild for 101 years!
Enjoy!
