Updates from Alumknights. Here's who we heard from in the recent "Y$2K" Alumknight fundraising letter, sent out just before Christmas 1999.
Pat Records lives in Boise.
Steve Pitkin lives in Long Beach, California.
Nancy Kuntz Elliott is a pro golfer!
Jerry Folger started his own business providing cash to individuals and companies who are experiencing cash flow problems.
Jennifer Gregory Rinaldi has a son Joseph, Class of '01.
Carey Lytle is an art teacher at Vallivue High School in Caldwell in his 24th year. He is also the yearbook advisor. One son is a freshman at Boise State University, and his second son is a sophomore at Vallivue.
Theresa Merrick is a single mother with two children. Her son Matt is 11 and her daughter Megan is 13. She graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University Nursing School and is working as a home health nurse three days a week. She lives in beautiful Bend, Oregon and likes to ski and hike - when time allows.
Mark Toledo became the General Counsel for the Oregon Education Association two years ago. The OEA is the state-wide union of 36,000 teachers and 4,500 educational support personnel.
Hi folks. thought I'd check in after a hiatus of 30 years. Never was a good letter writer. Sorry.
Lived in Holland and Germany after graduating, working for American Metals (AMAX Aluminum). Came back to the states after about a year and lived in Muskogee, OK attending Bacone College. Worked in Wyoming for Allied Chemical, moved to San Antonio and attended St. Mary's University and finished a BS in economics in 1974 at the University of Utah. Received a MS in economics in 1976 at the U. Attended more graduate school in Edinburgh, Scotland at University of Edinburgh with a MPhil in 1977. Went back to Salt Lake City and received a BS in finance in 1979 (trying to fill some gaps in practical knowledge). Currently working on an MBA at Regis University under the Montgomery GI Bill.
Entered the Army Reserve in 1984 and went to OCS at the Oregon Military Academy. Advanced through the ranks to current rank of Major, Civil Affairs, Plans Officer, 364th Civil Affairs Brigade, Portland, Oregon. I hold branch qualifications in infantry, finance, logistics, and civil affairs. My current branch assignment is civil affairs (Special Operations Command). My highest military educational attainment is graduate Command and General Staff College. I hope to be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel soon and go to War College. In the last three years, I have been deployed overseas to Japan, Korea, Bangladesh, and Thailand. I also get alot of "tough" duty in Hawaii at Schofield Barracks and Ft. Shafter. I spend most of my time, military and otherwise, planning Civil Affairs Thai missions such as "Cobra Gold 2000." For instance, I have been to Thailand 3 times in the last 12 months planning this combined and joint operation. In fact, I'm off to Nakhon Si Thammarat in about 2 weeks with a team of 16 other folks from my brigade and its subordinate units.
On the civilian side, I'm an economist for the Oregon Public Utility Commission in Salem, Oregon. I've worked for them about 21 years. Prior to that, I was working for a consulting firm in Salt Lake City. Now, they have me managing the Rates and Technical Analysis Section, Telecommunications Division. I do alot of Extended Area Service (EAS) stuff which is expanding toll-free calling areas. In fact I was in your AO at a couple of public meetings in Ontario, Oregon just this past week about Ontario, Vale, Nyssa, and Oregon Slopes' requests seeking entry into the Boise EAS Region. I was also interviewed by a Boise radio station. I also am involved in setting rates and service quality (held orders, busy trunks problems, and other measures of service quality). We are currently returning back to Oregon US WEST customers about $230 million in overcharges since 1996, which is another one of my projects. I intend to retire in just under 7 years and split my time between Puget Sound and Montana, where I own some land.
I have a wife of 26 years, Gerri, and three kids-- Lance Jr., Leslie, and Veronica. Lance Jr finished at University of Oregon not long ago in Art History. Leslie is working on two degrees in nutrition and psychology respectively at Oregon State University and wants to go to graduate school. Veronica is a cheer-leader at North Salem High School and wants to be a cheer-leader at some college. I think she wants to be a vet but she changes her mind back and forth based on what her older sister is doing. (Leslie is a gymnastics coach at Salem Gymnastics and is taking one of her students, a level 9 gymnast, to the Nationals in Oklahoma City in late April. Veronica's gymnastics skills have been an asset to her cheer-leading.)
I've been blessed with a wonderful wife in Gerri as she is patient (with me), kind, hard-working, and focused. We met in our last quarter of undergraduate school at the University of Utah. We both received baccalaureates in economics. At the time, there were no good looking girls studying econ, only guys, which was a terrible distraction for me. When I first met her, I thought I was in the wrong classroom, because she was a dish, and left only to return later when I confirmed I was in the correct class. We hit it off and were married within four months of our meeting. She is the budget manager for Marion County Health Department in Salem. Lance Jr was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1977. Leslie was born in Salt Lake City in 1979. Veronica was born in Salem, Oregon in 1984.
I like to scuba dive, sail, hike, backpack, ski, snow camp, ran-dori at judo, play bridge, travel, read, and sleep. God, seems like I'm forever trying to find more time just to sleep. Gerri and the kids pretty much like to do the same. Gerri and I work out at the YMCA swimming 3 to 4 miles per week most weeks. (I also run, do step aerobics, taibo, and weights. I am in Special Operations, US ARMY, and USASOC requires that we take 2 PT tests per year, do a 10 KM forced march with a 60 lb ruck under two hours every year, survival swims, every year, and lots more. That's why I'm a fanatic at working out. I've had to back off at judo somewhat over the last year because of two earlier shoulder separations that pain my right shoulder.)
My brother Don also graduated from BK the same year as me. He attended more colleges than me. He finished at Tarleton College in Texas in sociology or social work, I can't remember. He is a manager for WalMart in Caddo Wells, Texas. He also married a gal from that area whose folks left her farmland, so Don also works the land too, growing sorghum. He likes to spin yarns and fish.
An ex-teacher at BK, Mike Reinbold lives and teaches in Salem, Oregon at North Salem High School. He taught and coached my son drama at North Salem HS. Although getting long in the tooth, as we all are I'm sure, he is still going strong and turning out drama masterpieces. He is really good. His hair is gray, but what a powerful personality. He coached many of us at BK and you might recall we won the State Championship in drama in 1970 in Burley, Idaho beating out Borah's production of "Antigone." Our play was "Spoon River Anthology." I was in it as was Alice O'Donnell and many others.
Well that's about it from here. Not much for 30 years, but I still have some years left to do some good. I really enjoyed BK and look back with fondness at the many good people I knew and the many aspirations they had which I'm sure they attained. God bless you all.
While we were in Boise for spring break last month we had an enjoyable dinner with Jim & Karyl Richter - Thanks ! and found out that the reunion is planned for a time when I and two of our kids, Abby 14 and Tom 17 will be halfway across the State of Iowa on our bicycles. So Dan's on his own on this one.Hope you all have a great time. We still get back to Boise a couple of times a year but the rest of the time we are rusting away up here in WA State.Would be great to hear from anyone from the class of 70'
I wanted to let folks know Iam alive and Well in McKinney TX. My mom lives nearby as well as my wifes folks. Thought of Bishop Kelly alot over the years. If anyone wishes to send me any messages my Email is ddball7@juno.com. My best wishes to all.
Iam glad I found this site. For years I have thought of Boise and all of the good folks I knew and loved there. I always wanted to return but it never worked out that way. I am planning on visiting my brother in Salem so I know I will stop over for afew days. My wife has never been to Idaho. I know she will like it there. My prayers and thoughts are of you all there. God bless.Lots of things have happened to me over the years some good and some not so good,Divorce and death but we can all say that. Anyway,Everybody have a Good Sunday. Don Ball "70"
Two weeks ago I returned to my alma mater(Oregon) for the first time in 26 years. It struck me that it is high time that I learn more about my BK friends and so have sought out the school's website.
I am married to Joanna, my wife of sixteen years. We enjoy two children: Zack (12) and Lucy (9). We live in a suburb north of Chicago.
After attending Oregon, I moved to Austria for four years. I worked for Boise Cascade for one year and then, while studying history and philosophy at the University of Vienna, worked as a tour guide for Swiss Air and SAS.
I returned and wrote short stories about my adventures in Europe before entering the securities industry in 1979. My family and I returned to Vienna in 1992, for fifteen months whle on assignment with a U.S. corporation.
Since my return to the U.S., in 1994, I have been an advisor to families on the complex and sometimes, thorny issues surrounding the integration of financial prosperity, family harmony, and personal well-being.
I am at a place in life where I am grateful for the little things. I've learned that life is hard, but that God is good. Life has turned out far differently than I thought it would. Surprise. Surprise. Yet, for all that I don't know about destiny I do know this: It is both redemptive and purposeful. I have every reason to believe that the next years will be the best years of my life.
This is a message for Rich Harig. Rich, you probably don't remember me. I was in your sister Vicki's class. The class of '72 is planning a 30 year reunion. Would you be please tell Vicki how to get ahold of me? My e mail is dcwilprj@adaweb.net Tell her that her old B.K. classmates would love to hear from her. We want her to come to the reunion. Tell her we miss her Chicago accent. Thanks Rich. By the way, it sounds like you've had an interesting life since high school. CIA, right? Ron Wilper...'72
Well, here we are 31 years later! I didn't get to graduate with you all as my family moved to Portland, Oregon in Oct. 1968. I spent the last two years of high school at North Catholic High in Portland. We graduated just two weeks before the school burned to the ground after being bombed in race riots. I have never attended a reunion with the class here as I always felt that my real group was from BK. Many of you shared grade school years with me. I would be delighted to learn of any future reunions you may have and will try to attend. I have a small horse farm in Oregon City. Genealogical research brings me to the Boise area once or twice a year. I never fail to drive by the old high school for the memories. Hope you are all well and happy!

I have moved to Eugene, Oregon. I would like information on the class reunion. My alumni 1970 Borah High School. Would like to come down there to Boise in the Summer to visit....
Hi Theresa, This is my first contact with the website. I almost typed wedgesite- must be a high school flashback. I shoulda remembered you are in Bend- Hope all is well. I'm in Eugene- and have an in-law in Bend. I'm a grandma of 4 months, Madeline Grace- the most beautiful... well, you may have heard something similar. I was sad to hear of Father Wilson's passing- I know there were a lot of strong feelings- mine were all good- he figured in a lot of special events in all our lives- It makes me think of us all fondly. I'm tempted to go to the Mass Thursday- It would be great to see all our "young" faces there.
So, I wrote this essay about philosophy in Humanities class at B.S.U., ending with the theory, based on our philosophical heritage, that King Bush was behind 9/11, plus being the one who gained the most from the attack. So, what does my Professor do? She recommends that the whole class should read it! Ya! I'm still a radical f**k, thank God. It's my job. Taking classes part-time at B.S.U. is good therapy for me, Mass Media/Journalism major, gettin' ready to get my B.A., producing weekly radio shows for University Pulse, B.S.U.'s Student Radio. College has definately changed since the '60's and '70's; I swear to the Heaven's that I'm the only radical on campus, surrounded by ipods; stop playing with your ipod, GET A LIFE; "a war",they say; "but, do they have ipods in Iraq?" "November, 2001, Boyington produces Radio Play alleging King George's involvement in 9/11; the class freaked; and so did my radical Professor; so, where is the oil really going; does anybody care; does anybody really know what time it is?" Oh, God...it's 5am; what the hell am I doing? As I lurk in the shadows of darkness, the Light Shines on corporate greed; billions by refusing our "children of America" medical treatment. Our children need our help, millions of them accross this entire country. Journalist on a mission; in national promotion motivated by 2 interviews I did with an internationally renowned psychiatrist; radical, dude, I hear ya. American adolescence, literally deteriorating; but, does anyone really care...stop playing with your ipod; rather, listen to our children, crying tears of gold, slavery today in the U.S.A. Look for it coming to a Radio Station near you. It's great hearing about all yousss guysss...back, when we all had hair. Would love to hear from ya...send me an email, when you get a minute: davidaboyington@gmail.com God Bless all of ya! It's been almost 2 years since anyone has posted a message; thought I would get a radical moment, breaking tradition. Do they have ipods in Oregon? Later. David A. Boyington '70
Hi all. I have the last class of 70 reunion address file if anyone wants it, or better yet...I will up-date your info if you send it to me (e-mail too please). Reunion for us again in 2010 when we will be looking for you! A note of what you are doing would be nice too! I live in Boise, and build computer applications for the feds as a contractor. Send me a note! Mary
Apparently, Bishop Kelly Alums have lost track of me. I have been here in Boise since 2002. Please send me information regarding the next class reunion. I have been unable to attend any of the previous ones and they sound like they have been fun.
Just amusing myself reading some of these old posts. It seems my e-mail address was fairly old. Updated here. Dan & I are still in Poulsbo, near the submarine base - or as we like to call it "Ground Zero" We still get back to Boise a couple of times a year, to see the Tillotson clan. Our 3 children have all graduated from the Univ. of Washington, and have full time employment and health benefits! Dan is still working for the Federal Gov. but getting close to a 2nd reitrement. I'm working a moderate schedule as a School Nurse and spend the rest of the time riding my bike all over the place. Be great to hear from any of you. Mary & Dan
I retired some 4 years ago in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. I joined the American Legion Post 123. I really miss all of the old members of the HHC 364th Civil Affairs at Sears Hall in Portland, Oregon and of course Members of the 104th Infantry Division! I look forward in hearing from you! God Bless! Jerry 289 Cordelia Drive Myrtle Creek, OR. 97457

Hello to all or maybe I should say anyone out there. I think people just stumble on this site while poking around..We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our 40th reunion next summer.
Fil and I still live in Anchorage, but are moving back to Boise in 2011..can't wait!
Sure would like to know the reunion plans as soon as there are any!
Class of 70 re-union this summer 2010. Does anyone have Teresa Peterson's, Alice O'Donnel's, or Vickie Ocamica Beach's e-mail, address, or phone number? Please help Jenny
I just called BK to ask if there was going to be a reunion this summer. Talked to a Mark who asked me to post his phone number 947-1325 because he had resources to help facilitate the reunion. I'm still here in Seattle. Please let me know if we have a reunion. Thanks...........
Who would have thought there was a web site like this! Not me. It is fun to read the notes some from some old friends. I have been trying to find Helen Burril. Dan and I live in Sand Hollow (west of Caldwell). Still have horses, cows and dogs. Love it. I am trying to make the reunion.
I will be flying into Boise for 2 weeks vacation to visit family in Meridian the last two weeks of July. I am looking forward to catching up with everyone. I hope lots of folks show up. Thanks to those who are pulling it together!
Sorry that I can't attend the upcoming reunion. I am going to a friends wedding.
It would be fun to catch up on what everyone has been doing the last 40 years.
I am living in Eugene, Oregon with Elsa, my wife. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. I am semi-retired after 27 years in the energy management profession. My current major hobby is gun dog training. I am working on getting Master Hunter Titles for my to male black Labrador Retrievers and spend a fair amount of time helping train dogs at CoyoteCreekRetrievers.com
Well, how did the "reunion" go? There was a lot of message traffic prior to the date of the event but haven't heard from anyone who might have attended how it all turned out. Sorry we couldn't make it. Maybe next time. It has been a very busy summer for us, 2 400+ mile bike tours for me and our oldest son's wedding this coming week. Does anyone have pictures to share from the evening? Mary and Dan
