Hello Everyone, Happy New Year! I've been in Richland, Wa. the last few years. We're doing great here. We just finished a major remodle on a house we bought last year. I did a lot of the work myself. I'm tired:) Remodles, rentals and the winery keep Miles and me busy.

We travel a lot and so I was just in San Antonio to visit my musician nephew. Does Kevin Carroll still live in that area? I would like to see him next time I'm there.

Talked to Leah Butler a while ago and it sounds like her job in Hollywood is very exciting. She has a rental in Boise, as well.

I really enjoyed seeing everyone at the reunion. Hope you and your families have a healthy and happy 2008.

Angela Quinowski Dunne

P.S. Somebody stopped by the winery and said they went to school with me but did not leave a name. Next time call and I will come down and give you a tour. I'm always happy to see a "Famous Potato" :)

Someone was asking about a 25 year get-together this summer (maybe Tricia?) We could certainly have a party in my mom and brother Billy's backyard...nothing fancy but lots of room. Let me know if people are interested and when you're coming to town! I should be there for about a month (give or take a week at Redfish) from around the 15th of July to the 15th of Aug. (At Redfish the first week of Aug.) Let me know, Frances :)

Tricia,

I'd love to make it back to Boise for a 25th reunion (I can't remember the last time I was there) but it's going to take a lot of creative thinking to come up with a business reason for the trip.

Shameless plug time - For those of you in the Boise area, check out Café Vicino on 808 W. Fort Street. Tim Rhodes' younger brother Steve is one of the chefs there and according to my parents, they put a quality product. - Curtis

Okay, the sentence above should read "Steve is one of the chefs there and according to my parents, they put out a quality product." I blame the above on my poor overtaxed remaining brain cells. If I had just been a better caretaker for their dearly departed brethren when I was younger, I’d be a lot better off! ;-)

Curtis,

I am not sure about your point above but I do know you and I am sure that your parents put out/a quality product-i.e., you. Was that your point?

take care, tjc

Thanks for the compliment but I had hoped that one would have inferred from my earlier post that the food at Cafe Vacino is reported to be quite good. Are you still in Zurich?

Royce - good to hear from you! Msg sent to your e-mail account.

Curt,

I realize that I am stretching the humor but I am really just trying to keep things lively. We do not live in Zurich. We live in Geneva. We have been here for a couple of years. We are not sure about the length of our stay--one never knows. It has been nice. Skiing has been good this year. I hope to go to Chamonix over the weekend. Our youngest was born here. He speaks French like a native. At least that is how it sounds to me--he is but a year old and so he says things like eek, babu, dada, ahkg, hehu. Get the picture? Take care, tjc

Tim,

Sorry about the location screw up. Chamonix is the place where I managed to catch an edge and crash into a lift operator's hut in a particularly spectacular manner. He thought it was so funny that he asked me to stay as I was until he got a picture of what I had done. I hope your youngest takes up a manly language like German instead of French before it’s too late and he starts bathing with cologne, wearing funny hats, etc…

I had hoped to make it to Boise this summer but it looks like Uncle Sam has other plans for me so all of you 25th anniversary participants will have to take photos and post them so the rest of us can live vicariously through you.

Hal – msg. sent.

Hello Everyone,

Sorry I have not kept up with the post, been real busy with the children and school. My sons basketball games and homework, and just this week help planning with my sons 6th grade commencement, we drive 12 miles to a different school district and both my son and daughters grades shot way up michael was tested in his language arts and scored way above advanced, we also have our home up for sale and we are moving to Rogue River Oregon and very happy about it. We have spoke to the school district there and Michael will be tested for the honors program in middle school, his dream right now is to graduate from high school and to be accepted into West Point, dad and I told him that he can do it. His sister Cece is still rushed to the hospital with grandmal siezures, but her grades are also excellent and her dream is to graduate and go into the Coast Gaurds, and then there is little brother David who is still in West Sacramento School District because they had no openings for third grade at the charter school where his brother and sister go, we are dealing with other disfunctional children beating him up over race issues, can you believe that. Principal here is scared to do anything I on the other hand am not, I take action. Well I hope everyone has an awsome summer, we will be busy moving this summer, I will keep you inform on the move and our new address.

God Bless all of you!!!!!!

Wendy, Your move to Oregon sounds hopeful for yor family. Good luck with eveything. Curt, how about posting that photo of the spectacular hut incident? Can you tell us where Uncle Sam is sending you this summer? Frances, a 25th reunion party in your mom's back yard sounds like a good plan. If you come up with a date, I'll be there. Luci will be here next week until sometime in August. I visited her in Shanghai in April. If I could figure out how to post a photo here, I would prove it. Tim, yes to John Prine--some humans ain't human, some people ain't kind. Nancy

Nancy, I was not familiar with the JP song that you mentioned. I googled it and found the lyrics posted below. I also learned that you can select this song as a ring tone on your cell phone. Well, now that seems a little odd does it not?

We will be in Boise during the second week of July and hope to see you, tjc

Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm

Some humans ain't human Some people ain't kind You open up their hearts And here's what you'll find A few frozen pizzas Some ice cubes with hair A broken Popsicle You don't want to go there

Some humans ain't human Though they walk like we do They live and they breathe Just to turn the old screw They screw you when you're sleeping They try to screw you blind Some humans ain't human Some people ain't kind

You might go to church And sit down in a pew Those humans who ain't human Could be sittin' right next to you They talk about your family They talk about your clothes When they don't know their own ass From their own elbows

Jealousy and stupidity Don't equal harmony Jealousy and stupidity Don't equal harmony

Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm

[Spoken:] Have you ever noticed When you're feeling really good There's always a pigeon That'll come shit on your hood

Or you're feeling your freedom And the world's off your back Some cowboy from Texas Starts his own war in Iraq

Some humans ain't human Some people ain't kind They lie through their teeth With their head up their behind You open up their hearts And here's what you'll find Some humans ain't human Some people ain't kind

Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm

Cal,

Sounds like the people here in California, I can not get use to it here and I have lived here for going on 25 years, people never smile here in Idaho when we all went to Bishop Kelly, we had respect for our teachers and principal, here in California the teachers and the principals are afraid of the students, we live in a sad society and we can't wait to move to Oregon which will be soon.

Have a Happy Summer Everyone!!!!!

Western Idaho Fair sightings...Mrs. Anton and hubby, and later Chris. I think there were a million or so people there, and the Antons were the three we knew. Hey Joe Wilder, we had our annual fair dinner at your family's hamburger stand--the grilled onions are the best. Aren't you glad you aren't cooking over that hot griddle? I looked for you, though. In other news, my son Nick began his senior year at bk last week... I hope everyone is doing well.

Some of you may have already heard the news that earlier this week Sr.Constance passed away. Like too many of our parents, friends, and relatives, she had been battling cancer. Sr. Lillian remained her loyal friend and caretaker till the end. Over the years I've had some opportunities to visit both Constance and Lillian at the monastery in Cottonwood. Getting to know them as an adult, I grew to appreciate their generous work, kind spirits, and overflowing sense of humor--qualities I did not always recognize when I was their student. Last Christmas I received a note from Sr. Lillin. She referred to some stories I had shared with her earlier--sort of confessions of classroom moments that gave me slight Catholic guilt twinges--passing notes, giggling uncontrollably during the Edgar Allen Poe recordings, begin terrified of her stern glances and reprimands...I mentioned some of your names...She shared the laughs and told me to send her greetings to all of you. I know losing Constance is a huge adjustment for her. If anyone feels like sending her a note, you can write to Sr. Lillian Englert, Monastery of St. Gertrude, 645 Keuterville Rd., Cottonwood, ID 83522. I know she would love to hear from you.

Many of us knew Mrs. Gross - Her daughter Mary was calss of 1982...

Elizabeth T. Gross 1926 - 2009 Betty was born Oct 22, 1926 in St. Louis, Mo to Stanley and Helen Kilfoyle. She grew up in the city knowing all the sights and sounds of an urban environment. She graduated from Hadley Technical High School in St Louis. She met her husband Carl at the USO club in February of 1945. She visited Idaho with Carl in 1947, got a real taste of the West, and fell in love with it. They married in 1948 and lived in St. Louis. In 1955 their growing family of mom, dad and four kids moved to Boise, and then after moving to Teton Street they added two more to the family. Her love for Carl and her children was always apparent. She taught her children to be responsible citizens and to be compassionate and caring members of their community. Her ability in the kitchen was unequaled and mealtimes were events not to be missed. Betty lived 82 wonderful years, she passed away on July 23, 2009 in Boise. Betty is survived by her husband, Carl, her sister Kathy, and her children Tom, Sue, Carl, Steve, Matt and Mary and their respective spouses, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 28th at 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 29th at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, a luncheon will follow. The church is located at the corner of Cassia and Latah streets in Boise. After the luncheon we will travel to the Melba Cemetery where she will be interned. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Boise Chapel. In place of flowers please consider a donation to the traditional choir fund at Sacred Heart Church.

Melody Cole Fourtner's husband passed away.

Lawrence (Larry) Carl Fourtner 1956 - 2009 Lawrence Fourtner, 53, passed away Aug. 1, 2009 at home of natural causes. Lawrence was born on March 14, 1956 in San Jose, Calif. to Carl and Ethel Fourtner. The family moved to Lewistown, Mont. in 1971. He graduated from Saint Leo's High School in 1974. He moved to Idaho and married Melody Cole in 1985. They had three children; Brian, Nicole, and Jason. Lawrence was trained and experienced as a machinist for 35 years and worked his way to Production Manager at AceCo Precision Manufacturing, where he worked for the last 23 years. He was most happy when he was spending time outdoors. Fly fishing, boating, camping, trips to the coast, and long scooter rides with Melody and friends were particular favorites. Being a very severe asthmatic all of his life made some of these activities challenging. But he never let that stop him. He had a great sense of humor and never passed up the opportunity to play a practical joke. Melody, Nicole, Jason, and his sister Barbara were often the targets. He will be in our hearts forever. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Melody; his children, Nicole and Jason; granddaughter Kaylyn, and his sister Barbara (Dave) Overlin of Renton, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Brian. Memorial Services to be held on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Whitney United Methodist Church, located at 3315 Overland Rd in Boise, ID 83705, # 208-343-2893. Reception immediately to follow. Condolences to the family may be submitted online at www.CloverdaleFuneralHome.com.

Eric's mom -

Doretta Mae Wassler LaMott finished her final race on this earth as she lost her battle with cancer on February 5, 2010. Doretta, or Dee as she was known to her many friends, was born in Boise on February 24, 1940. Doretta attended St. Theresa's Academy. Always active even as a teenager, Doretta was involved in swimming, water ballet, life guarding, and both water and snow skiing. After high school, Doretta married Merle LaMott and was MOM to five active boys. Doretta's sons, Tim, Gene, Doug, Eric and Randy and all of the neighborhood boys on Sorrento Drive where they grew up kept her busy. Later, as a single parent, Doretta embarked on her career as a Respiratory Therapist where she worked at St. Luke's, Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, and finally the VA Hospital in Boise where she retired in 2001. After her boys had grown up, "Dee" pursued her next great passions, running, skiing, fishing, volunteering, as well as being a grandparent to her 7 grand children and 2 great grand children. Doretta was active with the Bogus Basin Primetimers skiing group and many times skied 50 plus times a season. Running was her identity later in life and she completed 21 marathons including the original marathon course in Athens, Boston Marathon's 100th and her last marathon in June 27th in Seattle, WA. She also competed hundreds of shorter races and was active with the Y-Striders running group. Following in her sons, Gene, Eric & Doug's footsteps, she started competing in triathlons the last few years and finished second in the US Masters National Senior Games in August just weeks before being diagnosed with her cancer. Doretta was preceded in death by her father, mother and one brother. Doretta is survived by her twin sister, Donna Beaux, her younger sister Beverly Kay Luhring, her sons Tim (MaryBeth), Gene (Chanze), Doug (Sheri), Eric (Lynn), Randy (Nancy), 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Vigil Services for Doretta will be held at Summers Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel on 3629 E. Ustick Road at 7pm on Monday, February 8th. Funeral services will be held at 11am on February 9th, 2010 at St. Mark's Catholic Church 7960 Northview, Boise. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Francis T. Wassler Pre-med Scholarship at Boise State University (Boise State University Foundation, 2225 University Drive Boise, ID 83706) or to the LaMott Family Scholarship at Bishop Kelly High School (7009 Franklin Rd, Boise, ID 83709).

I guess I should break down and get a facebook account because this sight has become a death notice page. It is very sad to see it go, I liked seeing what everyone was up to. I think I have held out long enough from getting one. The kids tease me all of the time about not being on facebook. I hope everyone is doing great out there.
