Hello classmates, it is time to start thinking about the 25 year class reunion. Greg eaton wanted to have a party up at his parents house as we did on our graduation night. I need some feedback from anyone who is interested in helping out with a 25 year reunion. Hopefully someone will hop on the site and we can get the ball rolling. I am up for some different ideas, so lets move quickly people. We need to get a date set so poeple can plan. hope all is well with everyone. Nick brady
Prick Brady - I'm "in" for whatever needs to be done. I can still remember that graduation evening at Greg's family home (remarkable after the amount of whatever it was that I drank...) and it was great. I will miss Mary Flo, as I drove her home that next morning. Let's plan the BEST party ever for our great classmates...which brings me to another topic - did y'all get the horrible news that Sarah Peterson's brother Nick was killed in Boise last week in an accident (he was on a moto, and another car ran a stop sign)? Debbie Thompson and Patty Cooper are trying to contact Sarah...Dana emailed me. I feel so, so, so, sorry for the family and can't imagine if anything ever happened to my bro. Please pray. Much love always, Christine Marie Bubbles
Sarah know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss.
"... My brother had been nearer right before. I had not taken the first step in knowledge; I had not learned to let go with the hands, As still I have not learned to with the heart, And have no wish to with the heart-nor need, That I can see. The mind-is not the heart. I may yet live, as I know others live, To wish in vain to let go with the mind- Of cares, at night, to sleep; but nothing tells me That I need learn to let go with the heart." from Wild Grapes by Robert Frost with love Mark
I also want to express my sorrow to Sarah and the Peterson family in their time of sadness. I had a nice visit with Susan Peterson at Billy Fritz's house about a month ago at my nieces wedding reception. She filled me in on her family and how everyone was doing. It is amazing that as we age, it is important to make sure we give a handshake, hugs, kisses to those we care about the most, because we never know what He has in mind for all of us, because it is not up to us. Nick was a great person and he will be missed. Christine, I forgot to tell you that I, like mort, changed my name back to Nick. thanx pisstine....nb
Yes, I'm from the year behind all of you, but no one ever posts to the Class of 82 site, so occasionally I check out what the rest of the Knights are up to. Sarah, I'm so sorry for your loss. Please pass my regards on to Susan as well. Know you are both in my thoughts. And, Mark, that's an incredibly lovely Robert Frost piece - thank you for sharing it in this public arena. Take care, everyone and God bless. jh
Anybody out there? ... don't know whats best for the rest of you, so I'll just make a wish.... I hope to be in Boise in the end of june and beginning of july and I would love to be at the reunion and spend some time with as many of you as possible. Gregory - can we take over your house sometime between the 24th of june and the 16th of july...? Troy Boy you organizing a float trip for us - how 'bout a scow trip? Greyhound you puttin' together a band for the occassion - I'm a mean spoon player!
Mark, we could do on July 15th and see if you could drink a beer or shot for each year of your life. Would be just like old times. I was driving behind a car today that kept back firing. Reminded me of all those cars the Grayhound used to drive.
Copy 0f my email to Nicholas. We need to get YOU ALL on board. Chime in on ideas. Plan accordingly and no freaking comments on my reference to a 42 year old ass...you know you have one too :)
Nicholas - so very wonderful to see you and Pammie today. Maybe we should make it a monthly event...kind of like cramps.
I looked at Hopfenbeck's dates (wish I were one of them) and they are: June 24th - July 16. Wish we American got so damn much vacation. I also checked a couple of calendars and found no conflicts except, of course, the long July 4th (falls on a Tuesday this year) weekend that some people will take.
I say it makes sense to shoot for the weekend of July 7 (friday), 8 (saturday) and/or 9 (sunday). That gives Mark & family first weekend to recuperate from jet lag, be with family, etc. Second weekend is out because it is the 4th weekend for many. What do you think?
Here are my contacts for Mr. Gregory: greg eaton E-mail Address(es): gfeaton@rembrandtvc.com
I think we should focus on some really fun events just Friday and Saturday night. Troy may want to throw in a float trip, and I think that would be great, but you won't catch my 42 year old ass in a swim suit. Board shorts, maybe. I will keep brainstorming over the best things to do. Wish Mrs. Brennan was still around - she would cook for all of us!
Take care my little hunk o hunk of burning love. See you soon. Bubbles
Gregory - Didn't mean to "out" you with all your emails on this forum. Hope you don't get bombarded...just get lots of nice messages from classmates. I also did not mean to infer that we are planning events without your precious Mom's blessing at your home! In fact, since we have not heard from you (you are probably in Egypt visiting the Pyramids or volunteering with the Peace Corps in Botswana...neither would surprise me)we will probably plan events at other venues and only hope for an impromptu crash at your parents' pad to recreate graduation night!
If ANYONE has a great idea for an event - there are soooo many new, fun places in and around Boise - please post. Sorry, nix to the Torch or Hooters :) Love, Christine
I did contact gregory and he said no problem on his parents house. I think we should plan on reuniting at the house for sure and we can plan for one more event. I don't see us collecting money this time around as I think we can pay as we go. We can go over this at a later date. Please everyone tell one and all about the site and get them back on line and talking. It shall be a ton of fun.........nb
Hey Paul Long time - you always were getting me into trouble - or was it the other way around...? We could do it on the 12th and I'll do my half if you do yours. We don't feel more than about 20 do we? Any idea where the Greyhound is? I thought someone said he was teaching somewhere outside of Boise...
the greyhound is teaching in fruitland I believe and coaching cross country. That was the last I heard. We r getting more poeple on line everyday. Keep up the good work as Sr Josephine would say. nb
Ran in to David Grapp on Hazel Street. He was driving his daughter and a bunch of friends somewhere. I was sneaking home from work early! He is no longer teaching, but went back to school to get his counseling degree (or certificate, or blessing or whatever you need). He is doing an internship at a local public elementary and will start work next school year, I guess. He will be great. Love that human. Bubb
Is there going to be a 25 year reunion this summer? If so i need to get my wife on a diet and have those breast implants done. (Mine not hers) I think I still have the tux from prom (less the vomit). So a formal get together is ok (the Bently will be broke down)I suppose a drunk fest is probably more likely. I was sticken with a deadly disease for the twenty year. Sent away for work. (They do that a lot my therapist thinks I should look for a hidden meaning!!) (Bently was broken then too).
Chad and others - YES - Nick and I are trying to piece together a plan for a 25 year reunion. We will hammer out plans soon and let you all know. Gregory Eaton has graciously offered his poor parents' place as a possible site for one event. I think the weekend we are looking at is the one after the 4th of July. Keep tuned for more information. Christine
Ok does Pam know you and Nick are doing all this hammering? Why in the good lord name is Eatons parents lettin us back in. Dont those people learn?? Very gracious of them, however foolish. Why are we not using one of the palatial home of one of us alumns. Certainly not mine (Bently parts in the living room and kitchen.)Oh yea much better to tear up some body elses house. Where are the Sprutes when you need em??? Keep us posted. Implants take about three months to heal up. Might need longer for the wifes diet.
Chadley - Bread and water for me for the next 7 months, thank you very much! We'll keep you in the loop about the reunion, but plan on mid July. Kinda slowed down with the holidays and all. Hope EVERYONE has a great and safe holiday season. Happy Dead Turkey Day to all. Much love, Bubbles
I dare 6 people to write on this thread without Christine, Todd or Chad (our most loyal posters)responding in between. Perhaps we can get a dialog going.....
Yup that worked. Look at all the posts. What kinda dialog are we going to see. Hey yell at Nick to he is always posting too!!! Is that you Nick? Bubbles you talk to much.
if you're going to leave a message on the site, have the nuts to sign your name, otherwise be known as a loser. Plans are coming for the reunion if anyone is interested in helping plan, let me know......nb
I'll take credit for the 6 people dare (the only post I made on this thread)- I was blown away when I saw what a negative reaction it had. I certainly never intended to turn this into a "mean spirited discussion". I was just hoping to see what everyone else was up to these days. It's been ages since we have heard from more than 3 or 4 people. I'm sure others are monitoring the web site like I am hoping to get onto a theme we can all participate in. So - I'll try again (with my name posted) and say "What's new in your life?"
Okay, I'm too chicken to post my name because I'm not even Class of 81 (no one ever posts to my class's board), but I for one would be very saddened if Christine never posted (or talked for that matter!) again! You have too much spirit to remain silent, too much life to have it dulled, too much intellect to not share your insights. And, I do know you, so this isn't someone who is just responding to what's posted here, Christine. It's posted to you, a pretty sensational voice who I'm hoping won't go away in this forum or any other in your life!
Leslie put you in the same category as Todd and Chad and considering how much she's been in love with those two over the years, I think it was a kind of a compliment.
As far as Chads comments go, aside from the drinking thing - which is typical in a passive-aggressive personality disorder, I get the impression that both he and Todd are Calvinists (in the Calvin and Hobbes tradition) which makes you Susie Derkins and the comment was in lieu of a digital snowball. I think Susie Derkins is totally cool and shes the smartest girl in the class, so actually he probably thinks you're the best - he just won't admit it to himself...
And the Calvins in the world we just have to learn to live with.... and fortunately they can be entertaining at times...
hope you're back soon, Christine.
And Leslie maybe you can inspire us by answering your own question, 'Whats new in your life?'
Enough from me now, I'll take a break, and hope others take up Leslies dare.
Looking forward to seeing you all this summer!! Mark
Mark - You always were the peacemaker - Thanks! Christine - I never meant to offend you - Chad and Todd - I was never in love with either of you - but, I like you all alot and hate to see anyone upset.
What's new with my life? My kids are growing up! Aubrey (Clyde's daughter from his 1st marriage) is 23 and her daughter, Baeley, is 2. Baeley is doing well after having a heart transplant at age 1 - she is really thriving now! My oldest, Lilly (age 19) is in college in Florida studying Radio and TV broadcasting and Dory (age 15) is in 9th grade and involved in drama club and band. She will be a random villager in "Fiddler on the Roof" if any of you happen to be in Shelley, ID in May.
I am working at Eastern Idaho Technical College in Idaho Falls teaching computer applications. My hobby this year is quilting. Dory and I are working on a quilt made out of all our old jeans - OK, that's what's new with me - who's next?
chadly, shoot me an email and i'll send you bubbles phone...she'd love to hear from you...
ski season is nearly over, it was great. in the short span between ski season and mud season, i expect to be doing some SERIOUS work to the website (mine, not yours) so i can start to get some sales going. the new camera is starting to collect some pretty nice shots.
construction season is about to start, which is nice...my "office" will once again be a piece of CAT equipment (like a huge version of what some of us played with in the local sand box), and my sand box will be the side of a mountain covered with wildflowers (except where i'm digging them up) at 10,000 feet.
it's hard to run over little wildflowers, but i just remind myself, if i don't do it, someone else will...and, as humans, we all keep copulating and multiplying (except me and christine...multiplying, that is), and the planet isn't getting any larger! so, those little flowers are going to get run over sometime.
too bad sprute doesn't get this site...i'm SURE that little pimp-daddy would be posting like a champ.
until then, all you have is my twisted humor...and poor cApitaliZation skillS.
...good thing we are all friends here...
...aren't we?
oh, chad, one more question...what city are you ging to post christne's number in?
les...did the chillin's have fun with the photos i sent? what kind of twisted results did they come up with?
you're all number one in my book (last time i checked...now where did i put that damn thing anyway...)
nickster, not much good with planning...yet...could hardly plan in advance to get my next bag lined up years ago, haven't got much better (except that i don't look for bags anymore).
if there is something that you think that my tiny little brain could handle, let me know.
...i could take pictures...better ones than i can type...
Todd I though I would posting her # in the seedy strip clubs in Nyssa first! (I hear they have them)wouldn't know from personal experience!! Well ok once. Twice! OK hell, I have a standing account!!
Leslie I was very hurt to find you don't love me anymore! I went and read what you wrote in my year book. Wow!! Forum material! No wonder I hide it from my wife and kids. I really never had sex with a doughnut!! Did I? I've been married for 21 years and have 2 kids and have a daughter that is 21 and a son that is 17. (I havent killed him yet)He is pulling all the same crap we did!!Ya just cant tell em nothin. I caught him pulling wild flowers Todd! I then found petals in the microwave. Why is that? I am done reproducing, but cant seem to kick the copulation habit. Back to the 12 step program! AGAIN DAMNIT!! I email Sprute back and forth on a regular basis. We send each other nice jokes. I will try to get him to post on here! I too am saddened by the end of the ski season Todd but it was a great year and have plans to hit 4 resorts before April 15. Debtors prison after that. Hope all is well for everybody!
let me know if any of those resorts are this far south...like crested butte...might be able to hook you up with passes.
wish i could make it up to bogus, it's been a long time since the've seen 100+ inches of snow...i remember the last time...vaguely...could ski anywhere on pine creek.
...maybe next year...
oh, she'll be back...this is irresistible for the bubbster. she knows she's loved...i think...
That was generous Chad - I was afraid you were going to throw a lawsuit at me.
Leslie - I applaud your valorous attempt at creating dialogue. Maybe we need a more devious strategy.... What if we post masses of messages - people may think they can sneak in a message every now and then without being noticed. And who knows, we may stumble on to an interesting topic...
I'll post with a passion if you guys do...
But first i'm off for a week of vacation with the wife and kids - cross-country skiing in western norway.
Mark - have a great time skiing! Todd - I only loved you so you would drive me to Duncan Donuts at juice break - sorry, but the truth hurts - but look at how many donuts I bought you! Todd - my students have butchered your pictures, but I have high hopes that next semester they will appreciate the fine photography and do something creative! Christine - sabbatical's over - come play with us Anyone else out there?
Random thought - I was looking at Mad magazine yesterday and they have a picture of the "not so useful" ipod tripod.....pretty funny
OK, I am loathe to return here, (I love this message board, but all my feelers were hurt quite some time ago saying I talked too much...wait a minute... I DO talk to much and I full well know it).
Anyway, I am only posting because of some bad news. St. Mary's folk lost one of our own and I don't even have all the particulars. Sam Hartz died last week after a car crash in Boise. There was a "news" story on Thursday, then a death notice on Friday. Nothing since. I am guessing an obit on Sunday? I am so very sorry for the family, who just lost their Mom in late December.
Just thinking of Sam and all his sweetness for so many years. Hope he is shooting hoops (and eating whatever his formerly diabetic self wanted to eat- I remember in first grade that if Sammie kind of started to wander off aimlessly, we were to alert the nuns and be sure he had some Tang or M & M's to recover his bloodsugar levels) in heaven, without worry.
The horrible thing is that Sam is lost to his family and friends. The wonderful thing is that after almost 40 years, we all still care and love someone who was St. Mary's "family." Bye Sammie. Love, Bubbles
On April 12, 2006, a great loss was felt for anyone whose life had been touched by Berton "Sam" Hartz III when he was tragically killed in a car accident. Sam was a quick witted individual who usually had you smiling or laughing right along with him. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday April 18,2006 at Cole Community Church, 8775 Ustick Road. Sam was born May 16th, 1963, as the 4th of 5 children to Sam and Leona Hartz. In his lifetime he worked at The Bazaar, Albertsons, J.R. Simplot Company, and Power Engineers. In every place he worked he made people smile and made friends. Sam is survived by his Dad, Berton "Sam" Hartz II; his brother and sisters: Tony (Laura), Joan (Randy), Roberta "Bert," and Tammy Hartz; his nieces and nephew: Ashley, Janae, Cody, and Jordan; plus a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Leona, on Dec. 20, 2005. Sam you have blessed our lives with love, laughter, and happy memories; you will be greatly missed as a son, brother, uncle, and friend. Funeral Services are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home. If you would like to make a contribution, or donation, please donate to the American Diabetes Foundation or flowers may be sent.
I just talked to Margret Brennan (Kristofferson). She and I kind of "ad hoc" decided that if anyone wants to get together after the funeral, we are meeting at my little northend house, just behind St. Mary's, just up the street from Sam's house. 2713 W. Hazel. Just drop in. We will be hanging out and reminiscing, thinking of Sam. Love to see anyone, don't care what class you are from. Drop by. Christine
... and I promised to post with a passion... so Nick and Christine, whats the program look like so far? what are we doing when? Is everybody as enthusiastic about this as I am?? Is anybody actually going to be there? Leslie can you set up a generic homepage where we can post pictures - otherwise I won't recognize anybody - and Chad will need it the day after to refresh his memory. Todd you will be doing a photodocumentary? ((Come on guys, help me out here))
I was glad to see that Christine and Nick are planning a 25th reunion get together! I wish I could go. My husband and I are living in Spain right now with our two kids and we won't be heading back to Boise for a while.
I look forward to hearing about it though and hopefully seeing some pictures.
I had a question for Mark (and to anybody else who has lived or traveled in Europe) about any "must-see" spots in Europe. We would really like to take this opportunity to visit what we can but traveling with a 10 and a 2 year old, we really have to plan well.
I backpacked on my own many years ago in Europe but I wanted to see what you guys would recommend. We just got back from a two week trip to the southern part of Spain and to Greece. I would definitely recommend Andalucia for the atmosphere (or "ambiente" as they call it) and the Greek islands for the breath-taking views and the relaxation!
Rosa Marie- Paris will forever be my favorite. I went again 7 months ago for two weeks and was in heaven. Salzburg is also just magical. I had a lot of friends in Koln, Germany (Cologne) so spent a lot of time there and enjoyed the history, etc. Florence and Rome are must-sees...but plan more time than you might first think - Trudy Sullivan and I actually went there together many moons ago and had the best time! Wish you could be home this summer. You have a wonderful spirit and you always make every gathering better for being there. Tell us more about the 10 year old and 2 year old!! Brave and hard-working you must be. What brought you & the family to Spain this year?
I, by the way, am having a terrible day. I never owned pets growing up (family had them, but not "mine") and since moving back to Boise 10 years ago, I have had two constant companions - a black kittie and an orange kittie. Orange kittie is in the pet hospital tonight and I am a mess! He should get better but I never knew I could cry this much. Pray for him, his name is Baby. I am going to try and attach a picture. Humor me, folks. I want him home. Fuck the attachment. I can't make it work and I can't stop crying! What a St. Mary's baby I am!
bubbers, don't worry about cryin', you're no more a baby than any of us...pets are more like kids, only the word 'kid' was already taken. we all get attached to them (just like kids), and when they aren't well, or worse, it hurts just the same.
we are still on for the weekend of july 7th and 8th for the 25 year class reunion. I have rec'd some input on the friday night thing. We were talking about bar hopping, but I also heard that 1 bar would be better so that we do not miss anyone during the driving and plus less driving while drinking. I am game for wherever anyone wants to go, but let me know soon. I have heard a couple of ideas for saturday night. I am finalizing these very soon. I will post when I know. Make sure to tell anyone you know to read the message board so we can have a good turnout. Until later.....NIck
Christine - how's Baby doing??? in October you wrote about all the great new places in Boise... Such as?? Things not work out for an evening at the Eaton Estate? Did you all do a day float trip on the payette for the 20th? Was it sucessful... Mark
Markie - Baby cat is on the mend...$2600 later accompanied by a lot of tears and madness. How do you people with children do this juggling act? There are soooo many new restaurants, bars, etc. in Boise. That weekend should be lovely weather so it would be fun to be outside. I don't know what Nickle is looking into as I cancelled our last coffee date due to a cat emergency. Sheesh.
Mark and Christine, Thank you so much for your suggestions. I knew that I came to the right place. Now to pick from all those great places!
I'm taking my husband to Venice for his birthday this month and we are visiting Rome with his parents this summer. You are right about Florence Christine. I remember going there years ago to stay for two days and we extended it for another two because we just couldn't get enough! I'd really like to take my daughter back there when she is older so we could enjoy it together.
Norway sounds beautiful Mark! I sure hope we are able to visit a few more countries before we head back to the states. If you like the Italians, I think that you would love the Spaniards! If you ever decide to come check out Spain, let me know -- we'd love to have you and your family visit.
I was sorry to hear about Baby Christine. I am glad that he is on the mend. We had to put our golden retriever/lab down last summer after he battled bone cancer for three years, and it was the hardest thing that I have ever had to do. So I can understand all the anguish you must have gone through.
Whatever you guys decide for the reunion will be great! Again, don't forget to take pictures so that all of us who aren't able to attend can see all the fun you had!
ross. sorry you have to make such difficult choices, but I'll bet you'll have the time of your life. Have a great time. Bubbles and I are meeting tomarrow to finalize the weekend fun. If you want to do something special, speak now or you will be forced to do what bubbles and I want to do. Make sure everyone gets the word out that the party is just around the corner...Until later.....Nick
We have finalized the weekend. We will be going to the Bardenay on friday night. We will start at 5:00 pm and be there the whole night. It is a fun spot and great atmosphere. I figure we can start that early to hopefully catch people that can only make it an hour or 2 after work. I on the other hand might be there longer than 2 hours. Saturday night, we are having a bar-b-q at Kathryn Baxter's house starting at 5:00 pm. Kids are invited and there is a swimming pool and a hot tub there. Please bring whatever you want to drink and the food will be taken care of. It shall be a great weekend, so make sure you email all of your contacts and let them know of our plans. Call me with any questions you have and let's make sure the word gets passed on. Nick
Nickel - I passed it to all my email contacts. Only "Nay" I got was from a couple of my favorite gals who will be coming to town the NEXT weekend for Andy Lawless's wedding to Belinda Bowler. Ann Brilz and Lucy Brotherton (not sure if they are bringing beautiful babies and spouses) will be in Boise the next weekend. Oh well. I am planning to clear that weekend to hopefully see them around wedding stuff. I will be at Bardenay Friday for sure and Saturday is currently an "if" for me. What about the rest of you????
Chad - my daughters aren't married yet, but my step daughter got married two years ago. It was hard on her dad for sure! The fun part comes with the grandbabies.....
i just got back from boise for my folks 60th anniversary (may 20th)...great time. (cb, you changed the color of your house!)
not sure yet about driving 1600 miles again! as much as i'd like to spend a weekend of drunken debauchery with y'all, the driving might kill me (figuratively, of course...i try to keep my speed down to double digits nowadays, somewhat less than a buck and a quarter).
...ah yes, then there is the money aspect as well. saving for a new large format printer.
i'll keep y'all posted. keep thinking about an alternate photographer (i'm sure you are all quite capable!).
Hi I have tried to get on this pace for a whil now.I finally got it.I live in Washinton state in the town of Shelton. My E-mail adress is debbiesattgast@yahoo.com.My husband is a Republican Media service person.I am a stay at home mom I have three kids my daughter grads next year. She has a lung problem a portion of her lungs is distroyed. My middle child David was born with Auism.my youngest has his chalenges to. I have learned alot about Autism over the last few years.Like that it is often mistaken for ADHD.As in the case of my son.He has PDD Autism spectrum. Yes I am know more them 95 pounds.I have gained weight and have lots of gray hairs. The chalenges of raising kids with disabilites has had its toll on my good looks and my mind.I have learned you need a good sence of humor.ha ha!!!!!!!!!!My son David was in the news papaer down there I hope you saw it.He is such a wonderful child god gave me.I di go agianst the school when he got to be a page for a day.The princeple didn't want him to do it.She said he was a imbaressment to her.The page lady's want him back next year for the full week.I will make her do it to.I have become a reall pain in this school butt.I fight them at every corner to get my sons and my other kids needs meet. Is this class ever going to have anoher reunion? I would like to here from you guys.use my email sometime.Or if you are ever out my way give me a call and stop by.(360)426-0991. I am not the same person I was in school.I have been married for 25 years.this June. ok.... I'll plead amnesia - somebody help me out here - no pictures of Debbie Herman in the yearbooks I've got... Debbie, refresh my memory...
Christine, I'll be up in McCall at our family reunion the week after, getting back on sunday. Let Ann and Lucy know that if they're still in town, I would really enjoy seeing them sunday evening...
So how many Debbies were in our class at any time? I remember Debbie Cope and another Debbie who was from Nampa - but I can't remember her last name (the yearbooks are "safely stored" somewhere in my attic.....)Who else?
Sorry I posted here I was looking for my class in Idaho and this came up.I didn't mean to mess up everyone.I don't understand why this place ever came up when I was lookig for a certian town.I am very sorry to have interfered with your posts.I will not be here ever agian I promise. Please take my post off I would appriciate it very much thank you.I won't be back. When putting class of 1981 even if you put in a town yours seem to have come up.very sorry take mine off.
Last I heard she was living in Nampa with her partner but that was several years ago!! Leslie I think often of our trips in my Ford truck or Sprutes El Camino to Winchells! French crullers rule!! I think its a porn shop or something now. I will have to scan what you wrote in my yearbook and post it on here! OK maybe not!!
Chad - what did I write in yor yearbook? I don't even remember! I'm sure I wasn't that naughty! How did we manage that daily trip to Winchells with 6 people packed in the cab of your truck, no seat belts, hot coffee, french crullers in the 20 minute juice break? - I can't believe we never got pulled over or even caught by administration....I wonder if our kids could do that?
leslie, i'm sure that you DON'T want to know what your kids are capable of...given that every generation gets more skillful and adept...
scared yet? don't be! everyone's demeanor that i went to school with was tremendous, and that kind of stuff wears off on their offspring...moral fibre, integrity, etc.
debbie herman, don't feel bad, or like we wouldn't want to chat - hey, we're all spudheads here.
..french cruellers do indeed rule supreme...chocolate ones...
Class of '81- I am here. Very excited to see people on the weekend of July 7th (Bardenay) and maybe Sunday July 8th (Kathryn's house). (chime in if you are able to make it so we look for you). I am also excited to see Mark coming all the way from Norway. I also hope to hang out with friends the next weekend coming for Andy Lawless's wedding to Bindy 7/16 (Ann Brilz and Lucy Brotherton). Can't wait to moon over your kids. I saw Gregory for a brief moment a couple of weekends ago downtown at the market. He looked wonderful. I hope he can make it to some of the festivities. I love to mash with Greg at festivities. Trampy Bubb. But then I always see Greg at Sun Valley events with his real girlfriends who are much thinner, more famous and cuter and younger than I. What a bummer.
Regardless. I am very excited to see all of you and hear stories. My classmates are precious to me. Chad, if you make fun of me for posting here - I will find you and rip that beer right out of your nostrils. Send me kisses, instead. XOXO Christine
The nerve to threaten my beer so!! If I remember right we were caught several times and our doughnuts confiscated!! Funny how we were never punished by detention or anything! My therapist says we were being used by the admistration and we should file a class action lawsuit for being taken atvantage of! He thinks the church would pay big to avoid such a horiffic scandal! Oh yea he is my lawyer too! Oh stop shop you know!
Chad - If you got your donuts confiscated, its because you didn't eat fast enough! Todd and I ate fast so there was nothing left to confiscate! Another option is to lick the donut just prior to confiscation.....
Christine, looking forward to seeing you too Sweetheart! But over here in Norway the 8th is a saturday... what day are we at Kathryns? David Grapp if you're out there, know that it'd be great to see you! Anybody know if Troy will make it off the River in order to join us?
Hi, I'm another Debbie from the class of '81. My maiden name was Debbie Townsend. I was only at BK for our senior year so I'm not sure if you'll remember me! I found this website and have enjoyed reading all the great BK news and your posts. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be in Boise for the reunion weekend - it would be fun to come have a beer and see you all. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! -Debbie
Debbie Townsend!! Were you only there the senior year? Seems like you were at BK the whole time. Of course we remember your wonderful, sunny self! Sorry you can't come...maybe to the 30th (oh lord in heaven, how can we ever be having a 30th reunion? we are older than dirt...pray for botox). Anyway, great to hear from you, Debbie. Hope you are well and we will have a beer for you! Christine
bubbles, i'm sure that greg's chicks have nothing on you...last time i saw you, if you got any thinner the summertime afternoon thunderstorms would blow you off the planet! (not insinuating that you are anorexic or anything, rather that you are just right...or were anyway, did you blimp up to 350 or something?)
chad, don't worry about the beer thing...just pretend to laugh at something and blow beer out your nose at her and you and your beer will be safe...just make sure not to get any on yourself, the boise nazi's will notice right away if they pull you over.
unless the wife's job change is quick and exceedingly profitable, i won't be there...as much as i could use a break from playing in the beautiful 10,000' sandbox with excavators, loaders, dozers and such...
happy father's day (a wee bit late) to all you fathers!
Hi Debbie Fun to hear from you - I even remember a dance we went to together - or was I just dreaming ... (o; wish you could have joined us. Hope life has been good to you!! Where are you living and what are you doing? Hope to see you at the 30th! Mark
OK - So Nick has emailed me wondering who in the heck is showing up at the 25 year reunion stuff going on this next weekend (Friday the 7th at Bardenay after about 6:00 pm and Saturday afternoon, with families, at Kathryn Brennan Baxter's house/pool). Anyone want to reply and I will report back to Nicholas? I will be coming Friday night for sure, Saturday maybe (family issues). Mark H. will be in town and planning on attending. Let me know by replying here for all to see, or you can send me a response at cmbubb@cableone.net
Thanks kids and am excited to see you all or hear from you and report to the crowd of how you are doing. XOXO Bubbles
Just wanted to write to let you know that I am thinking of you all at the reunion this weekend! I know it had to be a blast!
Christine, Nick, and Kathryn, kudos for making it happen! Who was in charge of the pictures? I'd really love to see all the fun you guys had! Christine, can you write and let us know who all attended? That was great that you guys could plan it for when Mark was going to be in town!
Mark, to answer your question, we are living in the northern part of Spain in the Basque Country. We are actually living in my parents hometown of Mundaka in the apartment they bought after getting married. It is a small fishing village. We will most likely be here until Christmas. If you are interested in seeing this part of Spain, please give us a holler. Unfortunately, we will have to leave Norway for another time. We have found that traveling with a 2 year old "Dennis the Menace", we have had to limit our travels to the countries in close proximity to Spain for our own sanity.
And Christine, to answer your question as to why we are in Spain, we came here so our daughter (who is 10 going on 16) could attend school here and experience her Basque heritage other than just in the summertime. I wish we could have done this sooner when she was in kindergarten. It hasn't been easy for her.
Rosa Mari - I didn't show up for a darn thing this weekend. Had a rotten case of the flu and was really bummed. Nick or Pam or Kathryn will be able to get you up to speed on who attended and what went on. Nice, as always, to hear from you in Biscaya! Christinr
I was so pleased to see the folks who gathered at Bardenay on Friday the 7th. Thank you to Margaret for calling me, and to Nick, Pam and Kathryn for organizing. It was so good to hear everyone's news and hear about all the kids, jobs and families. Thank you again. Jennifer (Kroos) Haemmerle.
I didnt get there til about 8:30 and everybody was already gone except Margaret and the blonde she was talking to (didnt recognize her) I stood behind her for about 5 min. Waiting for her to end the conversation never happened. I finally gave up and left not wanting to be rude and interupt. Geez is she always that chatty when she drinks? Oh well maybe next time. Where did ya all go anyway? Time for bed or what??? I feel better since Christine didnt go either. Sorry you were sick. Saved me a bunch of money though I was gonna get your trashed and hide your cat.
Again, so sad to have missed the "official" event at Bardenay, but I heard it was nice. I DID have the wonderful chance to spend time the next weekend with Lucy Brotherton and Ann Brilz, in town for Andy Lawless' wedding to local sweetheart Bindi Bowler. Lucy's boy Isaac has stolen my heart and I loved spending time with Lucy who cracks me up and makes me cry.
We (Lucy, Issac and I) also visited with Mark Hopfenbeck and his charming, warm, welcoming family in town from Norway: Wife Teresa, strapping son Nicolai, beatiful freckly Dagmar, serious Karen-Sofia, and another adorable baby that I wanted to take home: Linnea. Mark - I am sure I have butchered the spellings, but your family is incredible. Your wife was so sweet and Lucy and I are talking/dreaming about making a trip to Norway someday soon! (We are spreading jokes about the Swedes nationwide, also, if that makes you and Karen-Sofia feel better about your required efforts to lovingly slam the neighboring cultures.)
P.S. Doesn't hurt that our Mark looks like Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean in a yummy, European, Mark-y sort of way!! Seeing him just made me miss him all the more! His MOM is also dynamite - looks just like she did when we were 18! I want her brand of face cream! Anyway, it was a good visit. Just wanted to pass on an update. All is well with your friends.
Post your updates here, if you want. We can keep in touch in cyberspace, if nothing else. XOXO Bubbles
Christine you are too sweet and too generous - my family loves you! Please come visit and bring Lucy & family with you. Lucy and Christine, thanks for a great afternoon - it was wonderful spending time together. And I loved seeing everybody (or at least the appr. 10 people at the reunion...). Thanks Nick, Pam, Chrisitne, Kathryn and Margaret for making it happen!! Hope the rest of you make it to the 30th. And I got the chance to see TroyBoy - flew over for a day in McCall with his wonderfully charming and very gifted daughter Ava. Must get it from Kristin, don't ya think??
And Todd, norwegians do make cars, electric ones called 'Think' - they've sold about a hundred.... prosperity breeds contempt for the profit motive...
Chad, we were there til 11:00 pm that night at the bardenay, so I am sorry to have missed you. We had a great time and we shall look forward to the 30th. We did have a great time. Hope all is well with everyone....nick
I am still in the Basque Country with my family and just wanted to share with you an event that is happening in our little town of Mundaka.
The Billabong Pro Surfing Tournament is going on now and will continue until this Saturday. The long left waves here and this tournament have put Mundaka on the map.
It sure has been fun watching these pros do their stuff!
Check out the following URL: http://www.billabongpro.com Take Care!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I just wanted to post so that our link to class of '81 wasn't so outdated...AND to prompt you all to check in. Holidays are a great time for mini-reunions here in Boise when folks come home for the revelry.
I had a great Dead Turkey day with my family, which includes sister Karen (class of '84 I think) and brother Shawn (class of '86 or '87 I think)and Shawn & Lynn's kids Jake and Nick. I am also newly "in love" (gag, barf, retch at my really smarmy googliness) with a mailman of superior human quality, and am happier than I have ever been.
No more updates. The Bubb family is happy, healthy and I would love to hear from the rest of you! Happy Kick off to the Holiday, Christine
Hi guys. From the looks of things...nobody is checking this website. I miss you all and wonder what you are up to.
My news is that I am getting hitched...to the most wonderful mailman in the world. No date set. Depends on lots of things - job transfer for him (he works in Twin and lives in Buhl...quite a commute for the both of us), new house, planning a "party" - I am too old for a traditional wedding.
More news later, if anyone is out there. I am pretty excited. Life at 44 is darn great. Hope you all are well.
Congratulations Christine!!!! I'd post some news, but my life is boring - I'm still working at EITC in Idaho Falls teaching computers. We traveled to Boise last weekend for a competition. It was fun to see how much it has grown!
My oldest daughter is getting married in May and my youngest is a sophomore in high school. I still have both cats and Clyde and I are coming up on 10 years of wedded bliss.
i moved...in gunnison, and am busy finishing a remodel.
may be taking a job out of town this summer...in florida (that's the part that sucks)...for about $10-20k per MONTH! (THAT'S THE GOOOD PART!)...we'll see how that one pans out. if it works, it will pay off a house and fill a retirement fund pretty quick...
...and i think that i'll buy that lotus esprit i've been looking at...
oh happy day, Christine! Hugs and kisses for the bride to be. Glad to hear there won't be any traditional wedding... can I be your best man? 'best norwegian' is also fairly nontraditional... lots of love from the far north mark
Markie and Todd - Thanks for your encouragement and love. A testament to our BK roots and long lived commitment to the connection we all share. Wedding is still pending...waiting for a transfer to "get him here" or "get me to Twin Falls." (Can you imagine me living in Twin?? HoHo, HeeHee)
What is up with the rest of you?? Love you all!! Christine!!
Congratulations from the entire Hopfenbeck family! You are much loved by one and all, and we send you our best wishes! I would personally like to volunteer for the honeymoon should the mailman fail to deliver!
Curtis - Thanks, honey. I sent an email to your yahoo account. The whole world doesn't need to know of our love affair. Seriously, your congrats are so much appreciated. Your fam has been a wonderful part of my life. I miss Markie and the kids so much! They are delightful. Tell us more about your brood. I just have a mailman and two 25 pound cats. Funny, I am allergic to cats. I am the stupidest person to ever "gradiate" from BK, I guess!
Anyway, thanks.
A shout out to the rest of you reading this. What is going on with you this summer? Let's use this site a little bit more. Where are you, Mort, Ann Brilz, Carolyn, Nicholas, Luce, Michelle Cantrill, Goicoechea, Mary Hegman, Ellen Lawless, Trudy Marie, Ellie, Todd, Rosa, Chad...and all of those of you whom we all loved and never hear from?
Mort? Who the hell is that? Congratulations Bubbles. Get ready for the tax hit from the marriage penalty. Like many of you, I spend my time chasing my kids from one function to the next. There is way too many structured events for the kids these days. No time to just be kids. My son's teacher this year was Debbie Thompson's little sister, Andrea. She did a fine job. Has Allumbaugh had his tenth kid yet? He is a spry old man. Take care, Paul
Congratulations Christine! May your life be filled with many adventures, unrequested backrubs and an occasional surprise rose from this man.
We are still in KY. James paints. www.pearsonart.com - if you want to know more. I design websites and push his art in the public eye. We both work out of the same house and haven't killed each other yet. How's that for a testament to marriage?
Will be in Boise with the girls late July to teach them how to float the river.
Donna - Thanks for posting. I looked at you & your hubby's website. It was very impressive. I loved it, actually!
Hope you have fun in Boise rafting. I haven't done that yet, need to get to it!
Take care and again, looks as if your family is wonderful and creative and bold. Lucky you!
I will never forget your sixth birthday party. It was the first slumber party I EVER went to. We made no-bake cookies and your Mom told us some ghost stories that I still tell to impressionable young children to this day! I didn't even get homesick because I was having so much fun!
busy summer...i thought that i was all done working on the house, then my boss at the ski area shook his head...apparently one is never done working on the house. good thing i found all of those power tools at yard sales...and here i thought that i was a mechanic, not a carpenter. oh well, they both pay about the same at this point.
so bubbles, my dear, do we have a date to announce? i can hardly imagine you in twin, but, then again, i could hardly imagine me here in gunnison either. change is good.
coming to boise to visit the p's the last week of august, and head to eugene to see my late sister's daughter get married. can't really miss that one. from there we'll see the redwoods, and crater lake, then back to blahsay for 4 days to hang with the folks and do their windows. if the motivation hits me, i'll post some new images to my website of my vacation. i guess i really ought to, since the "vacation" is always a write-off when i comes tax time if i take saleable images...which isn't too hard - God made quite a bit of beauty out there for us to enjoy.
believing y'all'n's are having an enjoyable summer.
i vaguely remember a guy named mort...in a purple haze...
just thought I would post a note since it has been a day or two. Congrats bubbles on your newly engagement as it is fun to spend your life with someone you love. Just make sure Curt changes his underwear more often than he used to back at Sacred Heart. I do think that is awesome and good luck. Summer is going by very fast as all the kids are growing fast. Nicko will be a sophomore at BK this year and will have Lame Quinley Brown for a teacher. I can still remember when I had her myself. She is a great lady. I hope all is well with everyone and Paul, by the way, Dan did have himself his first girl. Take care all and we shall hear from you soon. Nick
Anybody gonna be home for Christmas?? I will, with family, from 20th to 30th or thereabouts. Would love to see as many as possible. Can we make plans - whats a good day for everybody, Friday the 28th? Where?
I've heard rumors of newlyweds, and considering how few posts Christine has made the past six months, I think there may be something to it - can anybody fill me in? Mark
Markie I want to get together with you and your darling family!! I would love to introduce you to my long-awaited 'other-half' (yes, he is as goofy and twisted as meee!). I would love to see lots of folks.
You can ALL come to my (oops, OUR) house on the 28th f that works. We could do a potluck and BYOB (this time, I won't get in trouble or get grounded). Chime in if this might work for you all.
sure would be nice to go home for the holidays...don't think that i will make it this time.
all the best to you christine dear! it never matters how long it takes, it's always worth the wait. after a few decades, a person has a better grasp on what they want out of life, and at this point in the game, i'm sure that you'll get it!
merry (fill in the blank), and happy new year to you all. may the coming year be even more prosperous to all of you than the ones before.
Hello Mrs. B-B Congratulations - I'm finally online - from the Brady home. Am presently being wined and dined by Nick and Pam -Would love to see you - have you heard from anybody else? Nick and Pam are headed to McCall tomorrow so won't be able to join us. I'll give you a call. Love to you and the Mister.
Well Christine, maybe I won't give you a call - don't have your number and it seems to be unlisted... but you can send me an email or call me at my moms - 344-6934. happy new year to everybody mark
Markie - I will call you at your Mama's house when it is a decent hour. It is currently 2:23 am and I don't think anyone would be up. We will put something together and I can't wait to see you!!! Christine
Sorry I missed you Christine. Didn't get the message from dear ol' Mom until too late and then no one took the phone... Happy New Year to you and yours and to anybody else out there that still drops in on this page.
We're finally settling in - Berkeley for six months will be a nice break from Norwegian winters. We'll be back in Boise in the end of June and I hope I can make amends and meet your Man. Or you can come visit us in Berkeley - isn't Annie B. somewhere in the neighborhood...? And we can get Gregory to show us the sights! Mark
hmmmm...end of june...maybe i can make that one fly.
the wife is going to michigan for a wedding, and i'd like to go to boise to pimp some of my photos to the galeries there - got a new large format printer for doing giclee prints...now all i have to do is sell some!
let me know when you have a better idea of dates, mark.
Gunnison, Colorado set an all-time record for snow fall this last winter. as of 8am this last tuesday (while you were no doubt enjoying warmer weather and sunshine), we received another 1.4 inches of snow, bringing the season's total snowfall to 101.4 inches. previous records: 1955-56 101.3 inches 1915-16 100.1 inches
the winter season started out looking pretty bleak, and many thought we were heading into a drought year...we were mistaken! here's the tally by month:
october - 1 inch november - 0 inches! december - 27.1 inches january - 31.9 inches february - 25.6 inches march - 9.9 inches april - 3.5 inches may - 2.4 inches (so far...)
so, does that make you feel a little bit better about YOUR winter?
Don't know if anybody reads this thread any more, but would be great to see anybody that happens to be in town this summer. drinks somewhere fun, maybe july 8, 9, 10 or 11... Christine, can't you bring your man so we can meet him...? Nicker can't you spread the word...? wishing you all a great summer! mark
Markie and family - I would LOVE to meet up with you anytime this summer. I will, of course, bring my prince for you all to meet. You will understand, quickly, why I folded (after 44 years of dating - OK, I didn't date as a toddler, but it has felt as long...) to marry the man of my dreams. He is Mark, Nick, my brother, a little Dave Skinner, and some pretty cool other perfect guys rolled into one. You will like him. Just tell me the time and place. We are good those days. We have a 'son' (his) getting married on the 5th of July and another on the 15th of August, so we are pretty booked this summer. Will ALWAYS make time for the scurvy lot of you, though. You make up my history and I love you all tons. PLEASE don't leave Boise without a hookup. Call me. 484-5527.
Mark, we will be up in mccall the week after the 4th. Not sure on the date coming back but we may see you for a day or two hopefully......hope u r enjoying your summer......nick
sounds wonderfully busy Christine - and so happy that you'll make time for us!! Just got into town this evening - I'll call Christine and Nick tomorrow - maybe we can do something the next few days (I'm heading up to Shepp Ranch on Thursday - and supposedly Troy is floating by the same day so hope to see him on the river). If not the 9th or 10th would be best for us... Who's in town - Paul, Dans, Chris, David, Dana, Debbies, Kathryn and Margret - anybody and everybody?? We'll keep you posted in case anybody else wants to join us... mark
It has been a long time since I got on here, and much has happend in my world.
My mom passed away last February from Flu related complications. Mercifully it happened in her sleep, and was quick. That was tough as we were very close. My dad has been struggling with health issues for almost 3 years, but a recent pacemaker implant seems to have things on a positive track. Since I'm the only kid in the area, I take care of things.
O.k. enough bummer stuff, My family and I still live in Mtn. Home. My beautiful daughter is 14 and a typical teenager. She "doesn't do phone calls...must be text or you get no response". That sort of thing, but she is a great kid. Good grades, stays out of trouble, active adn popular (though she thinks she's not...) Nancy is teaching 7th grade reading here in town. I'm still putting on the splotchy green togs every day. Been a busy few years for most military folks. Hope things slow down soon in that regard. I still fish too much. If it all works according to plan, I'll retire in a few and move on to another career.
Joe So sorry to hear about your Mom. Thanks for sharing that with us on this message board. I remember at Nick's Dad's funeral - St. John's was packed and I sat with Margret and Kathryn and we said that we were tired of just seeing each other at the funerals of our friends' parents. It is hard and I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the grief - when it happens in my family.
On a nicer, newsier note for all on the message board- I got to spend some great time this last week with Mark Hopfenbeck and his lovely wife. We met at Bardenay and shared some libations and stories and mostly just huge belly laughs (in Norwegian, of course). My new hubby joined us and I was so glad to have him meet Mark, my wonderful friend. They, of course, talked fishing...rivers...Idaho. It was lovely. Wish you all could have been there.
Take the best care everyone. Chime in here with updates when you can. It is good to hear from everyone. Christine
if you thought it was a rumor, it was not...my mom fell asleep tuesday feb 10 at 1040am.
Joe, i didn't read your post until now - sadly i know what it's like, and am very very sorry for your loss. i pray that no one else in our class has to deal with that - ideally, what is written in thessalonians happens first, and we're all together with new bodies!
sorry i didn't call any of you boise valley dwellers while i was there, i'm sure that you can understand...hangin' with the fam...
on an up-note, i did make my mom laugh a couple of days earlier by shaving opposite sides of my beard, and moustache...great to see her laugh one more time! it was worth it, even though it's about 2 degrees now here in gunnison! i also had the privilege of singing at the services with my brother mike, THAT was cool.
all the best - may the year get bettter for all of us!
not a lot going on here - has everybody gone to facebook? I have! Christine and Nick - why don't we do a alumknights class of 81 facebook group? or maybe there is one? have a great summer! Mark
