Congradulations to the team of 04/05. But one thing you guys have forgotten there were 2 teams before you that have done the same. ysursa's team and 94 team. one thing is different we played both ways and us starters never played past the 3rd quarter even at the state championip so you guys did have some nice wins but you guys had the sarters in until the last minutes. If we did the same it would have been total anilation of teams. Any time you worms want to strap um on let us know we will show you champions!!!
I have something to say about the difference between the 94 and the 04 teams. 94 had a different coach then. Brennan did'nt care about individual numbers back then. Now he does, i.e. cody hawkins and bleymiers. Good point up there i watch the 94 season and never saw John hild and his offense or the point stingy defensive line play past the 3rd quarter. Hawkins at quarterback compared to the 94 Hild is not even a contest hild had a better arm and a hell of alot more accurate. Also could break for a td at anytime. As for comparing the 2 teams 94 was more agressive agile and tougher (both ways) But they are both great
Wow. Competition - I love it. Listen, let's congratulate the 2004 football team and coach Brennan for their success this year. The bottom line is that both teams did what was necessary to become undefeated state champions. That is quite a feat, and regardless of the difference in athletes, the coaching staff has a lot to do with the victories. As a coach you take what athletes you have, and do your best. Brennan, Parker, Worrell, Gamber, Derig and the rest did an awesome job. Different athletes, different conferences, different era - same result - undefeated state champions. Awesome!! Congratulations to all.
This year's team did pile up impressive numbers, averaging 45 points scored per game, and giving up 12. The 1994 team averaged 36 and gave up 8. I suppose this year there were more surplus points piled up in the second half compared to ten years ago, which would leave the comparison about even. But the best average margin of victory still belongs to the 1969 team that averaged 44 points per game and gave up a whopping 2.6 on defense. That was in a different era, before the forward pass - just kidding.
The record of the 1982 Knights is not as impressive as other Gridiron versions but the 1982 Team has to be considered among the all-time greats. Sure we---errrr they---only made it into the state play-offs on a coin flip (the result of a tie for second place in the SRV) and sure we---errrr they---lost on the first round to Post Falls but the talent on that team and its cohesion was unmatched. That team personified the spirit of then coach Kevin O'Hara and displayed the "eye of the iguana" (taken from a song of the popular rock group of the time Survivor) throughout the year. This team beat Weiser 10-0 at Weiser despite the pre-game taunts of their opponents "Beat Slickers." This team exhibited the "never die" mentality in a come from behind victory against Emmett and also broke the collar bone of the Emmett running back in a hard hitting first half. Finally, this team hammered Payette and even engaged in a sideline brawl with the Payette coaches, players and cheerleaders. Sure Middleton crushed our beloved 1982 version and Kuna humiliated the Knights in the season finale after the Knights vowed revenge against the Cavemen for desecrating the Kelly home field during the summer of 1982. Nevertheless, I would choose the 1982 Knights over all others for the simple reason that they prevailed not only against their opponents (most) but also against their own ineptitude. tjc (BK class of 1983).
TELL YA WHAT WE ALL SHOULD BE PROUD OF ALL OUR KNIGHT FOOTBALL TEAMS. YEAH SURE WHEN ONLY 15 GUYS SUITED UP 30 YEARS AGO I'M SURE THEY WERE GREAT, AND EVEN THIS YEAR WAS GOOD , 86 TEAM WAS ALSO REAL TOUGH BUT THE TEAM I REMEMBER THE BEST WAS THE ONES IN THE MID 90'S WHO DOMINATED TEAMS IN THE FIRST HALF AND THE STARTERS WHO EVEN THEN SOME PLAYED BOTH WAYS SAT OUT HALF OF THE THIRD AND ALL FOURTH QUARTER. TO ALLOW GUYS WHO DIDNT FIGURE TO PLAY MUCH PLAY ALOT. WOW WHAT A TEAM.
Truely great teams still win every game no matter what happens i.e. burning your feild. We left no questions that we were champions 12-0 you guys didn't so just keep dreaming. 94" knights 42 will make you black and blue
I'd like to point out that bk would not have the facilities they have today if the 94 team didn't do what they did that magical year. After they graduated. New weight room more land newer gear and oh yeah the gym. All paid for by alumni who were proud of bk because of that team. i hate to say it but i think the 04 team is a product of the 94 team. They are both great in there own but i got to give credit to the 94 team hard nose animals.
Bottom line guys...from 1964 to 2004 BK has produced some awesome athletes. Beginning with the gentleman who does the current color commentary for Knights football (the guy next to him was no slouch as an athlete either)...to our head football coach...to the son of our city's university football coach, BK athletes (men and women) have found it necessary to hold themselves to a higher standard. From the beginning the perception has been that BK is a school of spoiled rich kids who don't earn anything but have it provided for them. I personally believe that in 40 years EACH class has contributed to erasing that stigma. I offer 3 things to consider: 1)any given BK team roster is littered with the familiar family names of those who have gone before them, it shouldn't matter what year you were a BK Knight...just that you were part of the BK Knights. (BK is steeped in history and tradition). 2)every year brings new ways to train, new equipment, smarter and better prepared coaches (be honest...this isn't the same football as 10, 20, 30, or 40 years ago). And last but not least, 3)whatever year you played you can say, with conviction, that you played a part in the development of the Christian values and winning tradition (the backbone?) that make Bishop Kelly the fine school that it is today.
CONGRATULATIONS Tim, coaches and the 2004 BK Knights. and...CONGRATULATIONS to all the BK Knights who have gone before you!!
May be there class of 73, you should stick to comentary for volleyball and leave the football to the men! thanks for your input but all of the above messages are valid ever hear of debate? Keeps the blood pumping. And also when did you ever play the game?
Oh young man (and I use the term "man" lightly) if you would have actually read my post you would have realized that I was simply saying what a great school BK was and is...a school built by the contributions of many not just a few (like one or two classes).
As for my "comentary" (it is spelled, commentary)it WAS about volleyball...and basketball, and softball, and the debate team and history club...it was about all the young men and women of BK.
Your "leave football to the men" comment needs no retort. Ignorance can define a person better then I ever could.
Oh, and I have heard of "debate"...as a verb (which I can only guess is the way you are using the word) it means: 1.Argue with one another "John debated Mary" 2.Think about carefully; weigh 3.Discuss the pros and cons of an issue 4. Have an argument about something If you feel that I was condemning a good, healthy debate then maybe one can find your definition of "debate" under "sour grapes".
Lastly, when did I "...ever play the game?" Well let's see, I spent several years playing tackle ball with my brothers and their friends...spent four years keeping stats and cheering for my friends who DID play football at BK and then spent several years doing the same thing for my two sons...tutored and cheered for several BSC and BSU players, and lastly, am looking forward to being part of many more games with my nephews and grandson. Believe it or not one can actually know the history of Bishop Kelly and a little about the game of football without ever putting on a black and gold football jersey.
I leave this litany with two comments for you...at least I have the nerve to sign my posts and, you didn't have Sr. Lillian for English did you!
Good call Kathy. Bart Starr or Brett Favre? Doesn't really matter - just enjoy it. Speaking of the '72 STATE CHAMPIONS - names like Epeldi, Post, Spears, Baird, Pitkin & Wilkin - they'd mash with any BK squad. I remember Sr. Lil. Peace
I am so sorry that it didn't use my Sr. Lillian's spell check. As for you playing football with your brother's and you thinking you are part of the game then just keep cheering!!! We need more clueless people like you who think they understand the game in our stands. At the end of your stupid little tissy you did write some truth. You do know LITTLE about the game. Stick to the message threads about cheerleading thats where your input is needed.
CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG? YOU BLOWHEARTS ARE TURNING THIS BOARD INTO A JERRY SPRINGER EPISODE, LETS JUST REJOICE AND REMEMBER ( WE ARE THE KNIGHT'S MIGHTY MIGHTY KNIGHTS) OH AND- (OOH-AHH BK!)
dear 98 alum you guys really did some miracles that year. Didn't you guys get state in being he most worthless year in bk sports history. Show some pride and help the rest of us true alumi help forget your year loser!
"dear 98 alum you guys really did some miracles that year. Didn't you guys get state in being he most worthless year in bk sports history. Show some pride and help the rest of us true alumi help forget your year loser!"
Dude, you need to learn to write... Oh, and sorry you didn't make the team back when you were in high school.
What started as some 94 guys wanting props for their 12-0 championship season has turned into one who has more profound needs....
It's odd to go after 98 for "being he [sic] most worthless year in bk sports history." Come on. Sure, football was an only above average (even for BK) 7-2 season. Other sports? Um...Abe Jackson ring a bell? State hoops champs in 98. Meanwhile the 94-95 hoops team ended their season on a week night in the district tournament. Only team in the last 15 years that did not make state 'cept for 99 when Cory had mono.
The 1994 season stands as the high water mark for BK football. It was a return to the roots of the early years when BK ruled the SRV most of 68-78, it ended the dry spell since the mid 80s, and it's the catalyst for today's top flight program. But don't take credit for the new gym.
Is 04 better than 94? It's hard to bet against Hild who was a modern day Jim Thorpe. But the computer model says go with 04 because of speed & and special teams. Final score 34-30.
But before the 94 and 04 guys get too carried away with themselves they might want to compare their schedules to other years, like 03 which played Eagle, Lake City and Borah and came within one point of an unbeaten regular season.
Great story mother goose I'm asleep now. Wow now we are talking about basketball and a 7-2 football season. I'd sure be proud of that. Take your computer model and put it next to your picture of Abe Jackson this is a football thread not t-ball bozo! It really sounds like you played the game .
I was surprised to see so many posts to this thread and thought I'd visit to see what all the fuss was about. I'm sorry I did.
It's unsettling to see how passionate people can be about a game as pointless as football - high school football, none the less. I don't mean to take away from the accomplishments of those won or lost often on the gridiron - their contributions to the school were equal. But don't overstate the importance of football. It's a game - and that's all. No one ever said he went to BK just to play football. The things that made BK great were the people; John Capper, Sister Lillian, Fr. Pat. Football had little to do with it.
Football’s greatest contribution to those who didn’t play the game was that it gave us something to do on a Friday night for part of the school year. The rest of us who played other sports never enjoyed the support of the football team, but we never complained. We went to all your games and you went to none of ours. Still we charged on, for the love of the sports we played and for the pride of our school. Football champions are no more important than any of the other champions of BK.
What is this idiot talking about. How do all these none playing idiots end up posting a message. You stay on the band message post. We support you to get off this site
WOW THE JOKE TELLER IS ON FIRE! THOSE JOKES SOUND NEW, I HAVEN'T HEARD THOSE FOR 5 OR 6 YEARS, MAYBE YOU SHOULD QUIT GETTIN YOUR JOKES OFF THE UPN NETWORK AND WORRY ABOUT TRYING TO GET LAID!
That guy must have gone to Borah. How did all of these jealous losers get on this page? If you aren't a champion or a male that played football go some were else. And as for your mama she is probably really proud of you. Some one needs to put some chlorine in that guys gene pool!!!! Band dork
I am a male who played football. Fortunately I can put into perspective that it was just a game played long ago. Hopefully you have accomplished something other than being a dumb ass since then.
Don't forget the powder puff football games - we did manage to send a few underclasswomen to the hospital one year I remember... ahhh, the joys of the boys wanting to see the girls getting the ball and running with it once per year ....memories la la la la la la laaaaaaaaaaaa
I have to agree with "73"! Coming from a family line that has seen kids and now grandkids through the BK system, I am proud to see we make the effort not only in sports but academics as well.
I remeber recently someone with the last name Carter...hmmmm, a little something about High School Heisman - education and sports, wow they really do mix :) I looked at todays Idaho Statesman and BK again graces the sports pages with the Gatoraid athlete who also sports a nice academic record.
Have a nice day, appreciate where you are, where you come from and the legacy that came before you and most certainly will come after you...look at who the field is named for, see who the scholorships come from, take a good look around the hallways you are walking now. From those of us that have walked them before you, take good care...
That last post was just downright MEAN. And not needed. This thread has gotten just nauseating to read.
Why don't you learn how to punctuate, you unfortunate soul?
Let's all stop. We have athletics so we can celebrate successes and build positive experiences. This exchange has been vitriolic (how's that for spelling Mr./Ms. Anonymous?) and not very fun.
Hey dumb and dumber why don't you 2 go back to your holes and leav e this thread. Christine you never played football. Maybe played with a football player and got lucky but stay to the posts about volleyball or cheerleading. John as for you I bet you never played and if you did you sat the bench. So shut up stupid
I will leave my name, so hopefully this craziness will stop (more difficult to yell at a real person?). Whoever this person is who insists on name-calling, please desist. I am proud to be a BK alum because of the kind of people I went to school with and because of the wonderful people they turned out to be - not just because of the school's athletic accomplishments.
If you want to talk about football - fine, but don't belittle your fellow BK alumni.
She was All State... 325 carries, 2051 yards and 37 td's...
No one could stop her...
As a player who excelled, and I'm sure was better than you... I must say...you are embarassing all of us who played on Friday nights... I don't think you got the real lessons a football team provides.
If we tell you that you and your team were the best ever, would you take your petty, rude little self elsewhere?
Did BK really produce this person?
Signed,
Matt Dessert Class of 87 Starting Fullback, seasons 85,86 Starting Linebacker, seasons 85,86 Starting All Special Teams, seasons 85,86
PS: The sad thing is... you probably played with my little bros... on some very good teams... I've probably cheered for you in person.
I sure am glad some folks who actually sign their names started posting. 8-) For awhile there I thought I was the only one who didn't care if this idiot knew who I was...lol
Good job on the stats Christine...I thought I remembered being told there was an awesome female player at BK during the mid-eighties. 8-)
I guess even BK had to produce a few ignorant, Neanderthals, whose mental and verbal skills are tested by a question as simple as, "what is your name?"
And to those who truly do believe this...GO KNIGHTS!!
Congratulations to the coaching staff and players of the ’04 BK football team. The story of your success has made it to the Land of Enchantment. I even got a glimpse of the action while watching a BSU game on ESPN. Wow, my high school getting a plug on a live national TV broadcast. "Hon, get the kids, BK’s on TV!"
I’m sure that from the starters to the end of the bench the team is composed of fine young men who worked hard and dedicated themselves to excellence. These values coupled with the tutelage of the coaching staff will serve these young men well the rest of their lives. Time will act to put their feat into perspective but they will always remember that perfect championship season and they will carry with them the values bestowed upon them by their coaches and their personal and collective efforts.
Success in athletics, academics, the arts, business or professional life share some common fundamentals. To improve one must work at it, physically, mentally and spiritually. A team will always accomplish more then an individual or group of individuals. Excellence as a goal, even if not met, is superior to mediocrity as a goal. Athletics provides an excellent vehicle for imparting these concepts on the young and as such has been rightfully valued by all great civilizations.
So again, my hats off to the team and the coaching staff and best of wishes for the future, wherever it may lead you.
Way to go 2004. A belated Congrats to 1994. Who is better? Why can we just say welcome to the club and good luck next year? C'mon we all know that for absolute pathos you had to go with the spirited team of 1984 which lost in the championship. Ok,I'm biased but great job!
"The 2004 team is the best of all time." That's the opinion of Jamie Harrington and he told us that at Quail Hollow at the conclusion of the alumknight scramble. When we questioned where he got that idea Flake said "that what dad says." It is worth noting that Mr. Harrington has seen as many BK games as anyone with the possible exception of Mr. Allen and Mr. Wilkin.
I still think the 1969 team is the best ever. The 10-1 1977 team is not far behind and except for the ref's blown call on Pat Harrington's fair catch we would not have lost 36-13 to Buhl. It would have been closer.
Congratulation to the 04 team and belated to the 94 team.
I was starting Center and played most of the game at defensive line as well on the 87 team. So that will answer did I play. I also played as part of the 86/87 state championship teams at Meridian. During those years, I got nothing but an attitude like yours from the experience. I never learned the importance of being part of a TEAM. I did learn that from my 87 season at BK the importance of being responsible for your actions. (Yes Dez I remember Kuna) I am a better man today for the people I played with and the coaches I had that year. I never got this playing for meridian we were all more worried with our own personal goals and achievements then the goals of the team. In life whenever I am more concerned with my goals rather than the goals of the team society as a whole looses. The real reason for this thread is to show our Knight Pride no mater what the year we attended or what extra curricular activities we where part of. I think you are part of that group who worries about your own goals and ignores the impact of your actions on society. Sorry you did not get the same education and experience I got from BK.
No! This is you being a asshole! Not compition. You have attacked every one in here for some reason. Get over your self. You were nothing back then and remain the same now. I am still sorry you never got a chance to grow up. Also sorry you never played in a game when it still mattered, or you would have a better understanding now. Since you represent yourself as the greatest Knight to wear the uniform. Why not let us all be graced with your name the name of the Greatest player in BK history. Because you are a Coward that hid behind your mommy at the games. The contact was too much for your frail boans so you never got the chance to be out there learning how to be a man. You were a coward in high school and carried that into life now. From now on I will just refer to you a Nancy since you dont have enugh of a pair to post your name. Have a great life Nancy.
Well from Wartmans last post you can tell he either is a Scholar of some sort, or possibly a professor. Great spelling and fragmented sentences! Well Wartface I am glad you got that off your chest. Do you feel like a big tuff guy. You still are Bk biggest idiot after all these years. Now Nancy must be your name when you dress in drag. You are great Wart!!!
Potis, there is no doubt in my mind that the 2004 team is the best. The kids on the interior lines are much bigger and better than those of the past. This team had much better all around speed than any team. BK teams have always had some speed guys but never so many that this team has. More gamebreakers gave this team a ton of options on offense. Explosive. The tell all is the competition BK now plays. They play the big boys in 5A and beat them. This was unheard of a few years ago. Who would have thought that BK would one day own Borah in football? Before 2001 that was a pipe dream.
Jamie, You make some very valid points about the 2004 Team being the greatest of all time. Since your dad has probably seen more BK football games than anyone else in BK's history, I am curious to know if he agrees with you. Next question - are you the greatest wide receiver ever to play at BK?
No I am just the dumbest. Also I have tons of homosexual tendencies. As for my dad he coached 15 years of girls volleyball so who knows what he thinks. I did however make one mistake i did hear that the 94 team beat an undefeated O"dea highschool from washington. I guess they did beat the true big boys. Oh by the way Coach Krahn loose your lifetime mebership to neverland ranch, perv.
Congratulations to all of Bishop Kelly's fine football players of all time. You should be proud of yourselves. It is a shame that such juvenile behavior which has been portrayed on this list must shadow your success. I hope you can ignore the ignorance posted above and celebrate your hard earned accomplishments.
Checking in on this thread is like watching a train wreck...
...in slow motion.
Evidently, the coaching staff failed to teach a number of the football players anything about respect. As BK athletes, you should have gotten more out of the experience than thinking you have the right disrespect others just because you had the good fortune of winning a few football games.
The sad truth is, when you're selling used cars someday, watching your hair getting thinner by the year and your waist getting wider by the month, your past accomplishments on a high school football field won't count for shit.
Time to grow up, little piggies. Nobody’s impressed.
Woweee this concerned alum is right on track. Hey stupid alumni we know you never played a down of football. Tape my ankles bitch and shut up. Let me guess you are another gay basco who thinks he owns B.K. and Boise for that matter. Well heres a heads up while your pulling the ticks out of your wool covered body the true Bk champs might let you clean the outside of our new cars. Jealousy is a bitch keep writing, team trainer. I know for a fact your team record was 0-0 go swim team fag
I am against censorship in any shape or form...but I vote to shut down this thread. There are some voices out there that just seethe ignorant hate and what sounds like childish "payback." I would hate for an outsider (or anyone, for that matter) to read this crap and think that this is the kind of sicko, lame, insecure, vapid, vulgar and ignorant product that comes from a great school. I know not everyone had a perfect experience at BK, but being ugly doesn't erase past hurts. It just leaves the writer and the readers soaking up ugliness. We have no way of stopping a poster, to my knowledge, so let's zap this off to where it belongs: the virtual shredder. Just a thought. AND A NOTICE TO THE ROTTEN PUNK POSTER: don't even think of sending a nasty message to me. I never even played football, but I think you should pick something else to do with your time. You will feel better about yourself if you quit spitting venom, guaranteed. Peace, Christine
buuu bbbuubububububub u played football I don't think so. SO get out of here. Typicial nosey BK loser who has nothing to do with this post. jUst so good old competition. Borah will rock you
Someone on this thread needs to buy "Born in the USA" and listen to it.
and then rent Napolean Dynamite and pay close attention to Uncle Rico, your mirror image.
Do you plan on selling the rights to your high school football story?
PS - There is no time travel machine so its time to look into the future, and move past your excellent high school football career, which could maybe buy you a cup of coffee. In fact, that's a good idea. Go into a coffee shop, tell them of your high school football accolades and see if you get a free coffee.
...sigh. why would anyone post here? You give some true thought and get accosted by an @$$ who can't spell and is probably drunk at 10:11 am when he/she posted. I am out of here.
Do you know what a idiot is? Well it is someone who says something that shouldn't be done but goes ahead and still does it. "like why would anyone post here?" That my friend is an idiot just thought you should know. And Bruce that was great I notice your post took over hour to post you must have blown alot of brain cells coming up with that zinger!
I hope I was very mean to you in high school. you deserve the worst. hope also that any people in your life today (do you HAVE any?) who realize what a terrible soul you present to the world and treat you accordingly. Karma, my dear, karma.
Some people will wallow in yesteryear for eternity, while others live in the moment.
Guess which one brings happiness. So why would Karma bother someone who is obviously so unhappy. It seems the NFL was not impressed with his onfield accomplishments, let alone Walla Walla Community College.
Any of you football ladies wanna lace up some skates and play a man's sport? BK should've given up on the pigskin and gotten a hockey team. The refs won't stop us on the ice rink. I'll knock out your teeth, embarrass your goalie, teach your linebackers how to hit, and take your quarterback's prom date home!
Public schools are obviously not teaching grammar these days, so pardon us if we have trouble understanding you. Although I'm sure typing must be difficult with your knuckles so sore from dragging on the ground all the time. Maybe that's why you come across like an eight-year-old; but then, that's not a very nice thing to say about eight-year-olds.
This is soooo amusing! One tends to lose track of what the frickin' complaint was to start with. Why don't we all just relax....call it good. I am sure all the past BK football teams worked their asses off and that is what counts, no? They are all heros to me...ahhhh.... Now do you all have jobs?....that is the question of success! Maybe we should discuss a new sport...volleyball! Ha!
Strong words Jamie.... I hope you didn't spit any copenhagen on your computer screen with the ASSCLOWN reference.... and by muttering "Douche Bag" under your breathe.....
you were a great talent in high school.. let's just leave it at that...
Lets face it, the 1992 baseball team was the genesis of REAL domination in Bishop Kelly sports. Football Smootball. We did it with very little support from the fans, or the alums.
Re: J-strap I would absolutely concur with one thing in your richly expletive statement: that football is indeed "everything" to you, while baseball, bishop kelly, happen to be nastalgia for me...and i also am the proud owner of the baseball comment, though I meant it as more of a jest than an attack, as i support all kelly sports, but understandably have a special kinship with baseball....
