YooHoo! What, no techies in the class of '71? Oh -- too busy paying bills and touching up the gray. I was that new kid that came senior year, sure was fun after three years of an all-girl school. These days I teach special ed 2nd graders in a Milwaukee Public School. Just couldn't live without recess. Remember my dad?? He and Mom retired back to Boise and he started teaching math. He's subbed at BK a few times. So what's happening besides golf and basketball??? XXXOOO Suse
Nice site, hope that more folks will log on and chime in as its existence gets more widely distributed. I never received a Y$2K Newsletter and now that I think about it don't remember seeing much from the group for some time now. Can you put me back on the list? The address is now 801 S. Athur Place, Kennewick WA 99336. Do we get to brag about kids here? My daughter just graduated from both High School and the Community College here and is soon off to Albertsons College of Idaho. Hope to get to Boise soon, maybe even make a golf tourney. Once again great site and hope it continues to expand.
This is wonderful!!! I hope many of our classmates find this site and we start preparing for our 30 year reunion. As for me, I'm still living in Seattle and have been with UPS for 23 years now. I've been in the Human Resources department since 1986. If any of you are ever in Seattle and need a place to stay or a tour of our city, give me a call...(206) 619-5482. I'm still married to Carrie (19 years this September) and we still have our 2 kids who are now a junior and senior at Bishop Blanchet High School (it's kind of a Kelly wanna be school). I've been back to Boise every April for the last 4 years to run (well walk & jog) the Robbie Creek 1/2 marathon with Joe Good. So far I've been able to cross the finish line before Joe, but I can't seem to catch Matt Sheehan's dad...and he's 74!!! Maybe next year. I truly hope to hear from some of you...I still look back at our time at Kelly as one of the best periods in life. God willing I'll be getting a second home in Boise in the very near future. Hope all is well with whoever reads this....later
Time to add my little bit. I am a fourth grade teacher in a little cow-town (and I mean that quite literally)about 100 miles northwest of Denver. I am also the fourth grade science teacher--a good outlet for my love of science. (Thanks, Sister Leo Anthony!) My husband, Larry, drives a route for Pepsi out of the Kremmling warehouse here and has done so for the past 19 years. Our son, Mark, will be 20 the end of October and is working on his bachelor's degree in electronic engineering at DeVry in Phoenix.
My two brothers and their families still live in Boise so we get back to see them every now and then, but not often enough to suit me. Hope someone is doing something about organizing a reunion for next summer.
Great to see Don Petersik fly over from Seattle for the Boise State-Idaho game on November 18th! He and Joe Good stopped by the Sigma Chi tailgate party outside the stadium.
For the last ten years, I have been Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. Can't believe I am actually using my Political Science degree!
Linda and I look forward to the 30th reunion this summer. Sure hope Dave Skinner and Pat Mills start working on it soon!
Dave- You and Ben Ysursa did a GREAT job announcing the BK football games this fall. You are more fun to listen to than Bob Curtis covering Vandal games!
How about if more people add messages to this site?
Looks like more folks are finding this site now. Hope to hear from more. Hey Ray, considering the game with Boise State, I have to believe that having a root canal is more fun than listening to a Vandal game. What do you call it when the Vandal's hold the Bronco's to 42 points? Halftime! Take care all.
Stumbled upon this site quite by accident. Great idea. I'm still living in Boise. Selling real estate since 1978 and loving it. Plan to keep doing it till I get it right. Roxanne and I are still married (to each other). Roxanne still has the same job at Social Security Administration. Just got her 30 year pin..Real nice piece of plastic. Can't wait for the 30 yr. reunion. Feel free to call us at 322-1999 or work 376-9000. Love to hear from other alums.
It is great to start hearing from the old classmates of 71! Seeing Joe Good on a regular basis for the Robie Creek Run is always an adventure...this year's goal is to beat Mr. Sheehan, and I don't mean Matt, I mean his DAD!! Ray Stark was his usual energetic self as we watched our beloved Vandals get crushed by RiverSide Tech, i.e. Boise State. But it was fun in spite of the outcome. And if anyone is looking for property in Boise, Scott Barbee is great at communicating...I plan on buying a retirement home in Boise and Scott looks to be the realestate man of choice. Has anyone heard about any kind of plan for our reunion this summer? If any of you are ever in Seattle please give me a call at (206) 367-3084. Hope to see you all this summer or at least this April 21 for the Robie Creek 1/2 marathon...bye
Pat Mills, our class President has announced that the date for the Class of '71 Reunion will be the wekend of August 10-12th. More information will be forthcoming.
Suzanne Aldecoa Skinner has accepted the position as chairman of the Class of '71 30th Reunion Committee. The reunion will be held on the weekend of August 10th. Friday night will be a photo and tour of BK followed by an evening at the Crow Inn. Saturday will bring a golf scramble and informal evening get together. Sunday a picnic at Municipal Park with Spud flipping burgers. Plan on being there. Confirm interest or contact the Committee through Deb Forsyth at dchrist942@aol.com or through this alumknight website.
It was wonderful to see folks at the reunion on Friday--my only regret is that I couldn't come back for Saturday and Sunday.
Miles (husband of 23 years) and I are living in Suquamish, WA, a short drive and ferry ride from Seattle. We have a grandson, Dillon Spence Yanick, who is quite possibly the brightest and most handsome child on the planet.
I started downhill skiing a few years ago--at last--and may run into (!!) some of you at Bogus one of these days.
Joe Good, Ron Ruffing and I are a team for 10/5 BK Golf Tournament. Joe is running the team, don't know who he has as a 4th. Hope to see a lot of familar faces on Friday at Boise Ranch. Great reunion, sorry I had to work Sunday and had to miss the picnic (where is the spell check on this site?) Dave Skinner is doing great job broadcasting BK games on Radio (KFXD, 580am) may try to see him at BSU at Thursday's game.
It was great to see everyone at the reunion this summer. Does anyone have an address for Colleen Clark? She gave me her business card to send her copies of the pictures I was taking because she forgot her camera. Unfortunately, I lost her card and can't remember where she works in the Nampa/Caldwell area nor her married name...aaarrggghhhh!
My sister (aka Pat Conner) is visiting me (in Texas) from Belize, where she has lived for the past 15+ years. She loved seeing the photo of the Class of '71 at the 30 year reunion....but she doesn't quite recognize some of her classmates (probably due to her failing eyesight). Does anyone have a list of names to go with this picture? We'd also love to see any additional photos available from the class of '71, especially "reunion" photos. Thanks for your help. Barb (Conner) Morgan Boise High Class of '73-- since Father Wilson didn't invite me back to B.K. after my Freshman year, for some stupid reason...
This is just a follow-up to former-Pat Conner's plea (via sister Barb) for any 30th reunion photos/info you can share. In case no one reads this message until after we have given up on checking this site, and they want to contact either one of us, Pat's email address is: hlcpatty@hotmail.com, and Barb's is: barmorga@prodigy.net. Thanks!
On Aug. 4, 2006 one of God's good ones, Nick J. Cook, a son, brother, uncle and all around good guy left us to be with his Heavenly Father. His sudden death from a massive heart attack shocked all of those who love him. Nick was born Dec. 8, 1952 in Ontario, Ore., Nick was the first son born to Margie and Joe Cook. Nick spent the first five years of his life playing with his cousins Mike and John Cook and his buddy Gary Collinsworth, in the streets, pastures and canals of New Plymouth, Idaho. Nick moved to Boise with his family in 1957. He attended Sacred Heart School and played Optimist Football and Little League Baseball. Though smaller than his classmates he was known to be ornery both on and off the playing fields. He enjoyed many family sporting events whenever there was a family function. He had fond memories of his optimist and little league days but they were not his only memories. Some of Nick's favorite memories as a child were the annual family camping trips. Every year his dad, Joe, and Uncle Jim would take the kids camping. Many times Nick and his cousin Mike would walk the rivers with fishing pole in hand casting out to catch the big one and to see who could catch the most fish. These camping and fishing trips embedded within Nick a life-long love for the Garden Valley and Lowman areas and fishing on the various Payette rivers. He attended Bishop Kelly High School in Boise and graduated in 1971. Nick loved his high school years and he always supported Bishop Kelly. For over 25 years after his graduation Nick ran the down markers and chains at all of the Bishop Kelly Home football games. He ran chains for so long that Bishop Kelly sports announcer, Dave Skinner, still to this day says, "...and here comes Nick Cook out on the field for a measurement." Whenever Nick would hear that on the radio he would just smile from ear to ear and laugh. Did I tell you about that laugh? If you knew Nick Cook, then you laughed. His smile and laugh were almost contagious and will be missed but never forgotten. He enjoyed making people laugh and being just a little ornery, okay a lot ornery, he would use his humor to brighten other people's day. He often went out of his way to help others. He will always be remembered for his "Five-0" Friday Hawaiian shirts. Nick worked for Overhead Door for over 20 years and then as a construction superintendent for various contractors. He loved the construction industry and he enjoyed all of the people he came into contact with over the years. Nick loved his family very much and was there to help his parents, Joe and Margie, and his sisters, Karen and Peg, and his little brother Ron. He also loved to spoil all of his nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Holidays and birthdays were occasions where everyone was showered with Nick's love. He was also somewhat of a matchmaker for several of his cousins. Nick is survived by his parents Joe and Margie Cook of Boise, his sister Karen and brother-in-law Joe Bingham of Boise, his sister Peg Cook, sister-in-law Linda Van Slyke of Boise, and brother Ron Cook of Boise. He is also survived by his nephews JD Childs and his wife Kelly Beltz, Steve Childs, Lonnie Childs, Adam Bingham and several great nieces and nephews, and too many relatives and friends to name. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his youngest brother Dominic and his great-nephew Blake Childs. Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Kelly High School. There will be a viewing at Cloverdale Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 8, 2006. The Vigil service will be held on Tuesday Aug. 8, 2006 at 7 p.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday Aug. 9, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
